Also I can’t believe they’re going to redeem Min-Woo as if he wasn’t extremely problematic to YWY. It’s been like 2 episodes since he tried to get fired. I was really hoping to have Soo Yeon end up alone (she seemed kinda desperate for a relationship and I think character growth for her would have been her realizing she doesn’t need a relationship ) or her ending up with hairy boss ( he could have brought out a more fun side to her)
Episode 14: for a show that that started out different and refreshing it’s heart breaking to see it adopt the dumb third act break up seen in practically every drama. There were so many alternatives to create tension in the last bit of this show that didn’t involve this dumb misunderstanding trope. Also all the characters are acting so different. Youngwoo is portrayed as someone who always speaks her mind, that is her nature as an autistic person, and for them to abandon that completely is such a poor choice by the writers.
The Empress and Consort Yue are polar opposites but are both great and two of my favorite characters. Happy to see neither of them are evil ! It’s a pity their kids suck tho
I’m really struggling to get through the end of the ep 26 😭😭 The second hand embarrassment is killing me. Ling buyi trying to be more friendly is adorable tho
I understand where the mom is coming from with disagreeing with the marriage but to chalk up all of the valuable work CSS did as “luck” and to just constantly berate her once again, that was so painful to see. Also CSS grew up with such practically no affection, and 0 idea of that a healthy marriage should look like since her parents were gone. It’s no wonder that she was so willing to marry the first man to show her devotion :(
Usually I’m only interested in the romance in these shows, but the family dynamics of this show have me hooked ahhhh. I’m tearing up every time CSS is being snubbed by her mother in favor of Yangyang. It doesn’t even bother me that we’re 6 episodes in and the ML and FL have barely even met 😭
I was hoping this show would be one that wouldn’t utilize plot armor, where death was a real consequence, considering the fate of both her brothers, her parents, the ML’s father and Officer Yoon. But the fact that she miraculously survived poison really cheapens everything from before. I think I would have rather they not include the poison scene at all, or made it creative to guarantee her survival.
I agree with everyone saying that it was a bit slow paced, thankfully since I was watching as it aired rather than binging I don’t think I noticed as much.
The parents have to be the best part of this for me. It was definitely watchable, and there are some cute moments, but the damsel in distress trope was happening so so much. Every single time she was in danger someone would appear out of thin air to save her, most of the times being the ML. The one time she did manage to escape from a kidnapping, she still got lost in the woods and he had to save her. She couldn’t even defend herself from the female villain, and the ML lead had to save her from a vase. All of this helplessness would have been fine I think, if they didn’t try to brand her as a street smart, independent girl. The most we get see her cleverness was in solving the puzzle to find the letter. Nevertheless it’s lighthearted and an easy watch, not the best, not the worst.
