I wish this drama had about 50 to 60 episodes. It would have been nice to have dedicated episodes to all arcs!
You are absolutely right, we are on episode 18 and I still think the remaining 22 is not enough to unravel all the mystery and the multi reincarnation in different parallel dimensions..... This is the type of drama that actual deserves to be 2 season.... But let's see how the writer wants to wrap things up in a compelling satisfying way.. I just hope nothing will be rushed.

There was a time when he want to take revenge on his brother only, hoping his father to do justice for him. But his step mom pleaded for his brother with her suicide, telling his father why he shouldn't punish his last family hope over a useless son(2ML) who can no longer walk nor accomplish anything.

But currently here is what I understand on his misfortune.
. He was set up by his own brother and then got tortured resulting him to lose his 9 sense out of 10, and his tendon broken,
. He was then saved by the pavilion master with a magical pearl that reconstruct all his broken tendon but not his 9 sense.
. And as for why he no longer needs the pearl; that may be because he is very capable enough or may have found a solution on how to continue living without the pearl over the years.
. This misfortune was what turned him evil earlier than we taught, making him to slaughter all his clan in a guiltles motivation.
