I appreciate that the movie doesn't make the romance the center of everything. The relationship between the characters is mostly there to complement the larger story about friendship, dreams, family, and community. Even Pil-sun's father gets his own meaningful arc involving the shipyard workers, which connects the teenagers' struggle to the adults' struggles
