This is the very first time I give a drama a low rating, i'm usually not picky with kdramas since I use it mostly as a tool to kill time and relieve stress seeing all the fluffy couples but this drama was just so bad, I can't even begin to explain how bad it was, it doesn't need any words.
I'm not that passionate about kdramas and watching movies is more of my thing, I always thought Cruel Intentions, despite being a very entertaining movie with great characters, was a gigantic mess with rushed writing and pacing problems, but I still loved it a lot and I was looking forward to this drama because of this, I was especially curious about how they would mix Cruel Intentions and Untold Scandal (A true work of art of the Korean film industry) but MBC and the writers absolutely ruined the original story and Tempted simply don't deserve to be included in the long list of adaptations off Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
At least the finale eps were getting better, which aimed at MBC making a good ending for this ridiculous shit-show, but then even the ending was ruined.
That ending would have been great if Sihyun died on the hospital and Sooji, Sejoo and Taehee celebrated the birthday of a late Sihyun 5 years later but w/e.
I am so frustrated about this drama, but I will have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed the past 4 episodes, is how the drama should have been from the beginning imo, but is too late MBC, way too late.
I don't have to wait until next week to say this was a huge disappointment to me (But at least i'm enjoying the finale eps?).
P.S: I think the ending will be a tragedy, I thought we wouldn't even be able to imagine it happening but the way it was all shaped up, and just, the bet coming to light way too late to allow Taehee to heal and forgive Sihyun, not to mention this time they actually broke up and aren't together currently (Sihyun asked Taehee to spend a day with him, but they didn't get back together this time), I can't see them ending up together and I can definitely see Sihyun dying, but we will see, the writer proved me wrong and disappointed me way too many times.
Maybe she's not fitted for lead roles? I mean it would've been fine if they just gave her a supporting character,…
Eh? I apologize in advance but I don't see how this relates to my comment, although I do agree Joy should start going for supporting roles first before continuing to get lead roles is not her fault that the characterization for Taehee is inconsistent like this, only the writers are to blame for this, it has 0 relation to whether Joy is ready or not, even the greatest actress can't save a character whose structure in paper is painfully inconsistent.
It is her fault however, that she's unable to offer a good portrayal of naivety and innocence, I still think she was doing well as the smart and confident girl that was being shown to us in episodes 1-5, but Taehee took a complete turn and the chemical reaction of its components was Joy's portrayal getting weaker along with her character, a well-seasoned actress is able to do both, but as we both know Joy is green and totally new to the scene.
I'm honestly so disappointed with the way Taehee is written, this isn't the cold girl I looked forward to, she's naive and innocent, what a huge contradiction from the way she was described to us in the beginning.
P.S: Joy was doing well in the first few episodes where Taehee had her strong persona in my honest opinion, but Taehee goes back to naive and innocent and I start to see the flaws that were bothering me in TLAHL again, she simply doesn't suit the naive and innocent type of characters.
Untold Scandal was also based on Les Liaisons Dangereuses (I looked it up). I haven't seen it, but I'm now putting…
I definitely enjoyed Untold Scandal! Just as every other adaptation of Les Liaisons Dangeureuses is pretty traumatic but it keeps up with all perceptions I have of what a good movie should be.
The way the storyline was executed, the cinematography, the acting, it was all decent, though it did confuse me a little sometimes but it wasn't much of a problem.
I guess the expectations I set up for myself were just right because the drama is turning out to be exactly like I expected it to be and I like it thus far, is giving me major Cruel Intentions vibes and from the moment more details started to be released about the drama that is exactly what I expected because the similarities were orotund.
There are also minor hints to Untold Scandal, but so far those hints are just that, minor, the base of Sooji's bet might have been taken from the way the classic bet was executed in Untold Scandal.
The only complaint I have thus far is the editing and the BGMs, this really annoyed me and I hope it improves as the drama advances, the cinematography though, the cinematography is gorgeous.
/sighs/ I have been neutral on everything related to this drama because im a fan of Joy but im already tired of…
As I said in my previous post, she definitely has things to improve on and in no way i'm denying that, her blinking is precisely one of the things I think she should work on (It bothered me a lot), but I don't get where some of the hatred is coming from when she wasn't terrible or /that/ bad, she is just green and although it definitely wasn't the best acting performance, it clearly wasn't the worse either, i've seen some pro actresses do way worse than that.
I agree with you that she should be taking on supporting roles first, and after TLAHL I honestly thought it would be a while until Joy got into acting again (if ever) because she really isn't the type of idol who needs an acting career since she is well-rounded in all the other areas of the idol industry, but MBC offered her the role and SM decided to take it (After a lot of deliberation, whether some want to believe it or not).
I really hope my comments aren't coming off as defensive because that isn't my intention in any way, I can see where some comments are coming from and i'm quite worried myself, but hey I want to discuss too lmao.

Hmmm if I were to give my personal opinion I do think she is still green and has things to improve on. However, I beg to disagree with those who try to paint her as a terrible actress when so far she isn't, she is just new.
I am curious about this drama because it will show whether she has it in her or not, TLAHL is not a big indicative of anything since the characters were badly written.

Joy or not, I doubt this drama would be too sexual anyway since it is a public broadcast.
