Holy hell, this show is fantastic. I even love the dubbing; it is so reminiscent of the times and feel. Im just as obsessed with its entirety.

I just want to say before this drama ends, this comment section has been one of the more engaging and interesting for me in a long time. I have appreciated reading everyone's discussions here and seeing the respect that everyone has had for all opinions. The depth, the historical insight, the different perspectives on the characters and the way people challenge and help each other understand the story have all made this comment section as enjoyable as the drama itself. It is rare to see a space this thoughtful and respectful. It would be awesome if people involved with the production of this drama could read what has been discussed here.

I also found her too mopey but after your wonderful pictorial, I can completely see how she got where she is now. She was probably, while a country girl, not from a poor family but aware of where her place and reputation needed to be as a woman. I can imagine her happy and free before her life tragedy. In order to survive and raise her family, when she realized she was abandoned, the only thing she could do in order to maintain her reputation and virtue was to hunker down, claim ignorance, guard her heart and become what she thinks she needed to be.

I am intrigued by your knowledge and wanted to say how impressed I am with the insight you bring to this drama. As a foreign viewer, I know I'd be missing a huge amount without your cultural and historical context - it honestly adds a whole new layer to the drama and have started looking forward to your posts.

I feel like I've been given a breath of fresh air. Im at ep 11 and I have been completely enjoying this drama. I hold back for 4 or 5 days so I can watch in batches, but I look forward to those days very much. This drama is hilarious, has just the right amount of action, drama and intelligence while the acting is very nice! I think the actors have a good amount of chemistry and work well together making the whole drama flow smoothly. I read other reviews, after watching ep 4, where I confirmed the JoL vibe I had been picking up on. Not sure if the director/actors would appreciate that comparison, but since i really loved that drama, I hope they appreciate the affection behind the statement.
I strongly recommend this drama. If you want an idea of my drama preference, a few of my favorite Chinese dramas are - The Rise of Phoenixes, Joy of Life, Ever night, You are my Glory and Love like the Galaxy.
