Just go away with your queer shit instead of giving it a one star
What's the point of a rating system that disallows low ratings?

The world doesn't revolve around you, dear. Learn to meditate or touch some grass
The world doesn't revolve around any one person, dear. It revolves around the sun

Please suggest that the creators of the adaptation take a stroll through a lovely meadow and contemplate the value of inclusivity in storytelling. After all, if my desire for representation shouldn't shape the world, why should anyone's desire to erase it?

When you seen 1 as ratings, that's how you spot terrible reviews. They mostly have terrible opinions and bias…
All ratings are colored by a reviewer's personal experience and emotional resonance with a work. A 10-star rating is as emotionally motivated as a 1-star rating, and perhaps more positively skewed

If anything, your own comment is a hasty, emotionally-charged reaction, colored by a confirmation bias against unfavorable, negative ratings

😮‍💨I am gay and I still watch it and I like it 🤧You know this bromance is better than some two to three…
"I am gay and I still watch it and I like it"

Good for you, I'm gay and I didn't enjoy the drama

The production team isn't solely to blame for creating a "wrong impression." Producers and studios make decisions based on market research and perceived audience demand. If consumers continue to support censored content, studios will be less inclined to take risks and produce authentic, diverse stories in the future

I, for one, refuse to support the censorship of gay stories

The "two to three updated BLs per month" are the rainbow-colored oasis in a desert of heteronormativity that have the guts to depict gay relationships. They have something money can't buy. For me, they are better than "bromances"

I hope you're right

At the same time, the censorship and strategic hinting at a relationship between the male characters (gay-baiting) will likely present an obstacle to the genuine depiction of the relationship

The novel unfolds with Yi Heon and Se Kyung beginning as "classmates/friends" who harbor feelings for each other before they grow closer and become more than "friends"

there is difference between homophobic and someone who doesn't think the life ends, if they take out the BL storyline…
7-8 people creating fake accounts to voice their concerns, and the rest of you must’ve fallen off the turnip truck. Sure

We're not crying rivers or strapping ourselves to the nearest bus in protest, we're just bummed out by the drama and the “whatever, who cares” attitude

The wave of apathy towards homophobic censorship can be more treacherous and damaging than the overt homophobia of someone hurling slurs to our face. People ignore it and let it flourish

We were talking past each other

I agree that the behavior of some fans is problematic, and that's not the point I was making. The issue at hand is the censorship and erasure of gay characters and storylines in media, which is larger and more pervasive than some fans e.g. thinking their favorite actors are dating in real life

You're attributing meanings to my choice of words that aren't there

Love manifests in emotional and physical forms. Focusing on the emotional manifestation of love and discounting the physical manifestation (intimacy) erases a significant part of the gay experience

Gay people have physical, sexual needs and desires, like everyone else

Korean dramas and Thai dramas have different censorship standards. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges

"Straight dramas aren't selling off only based on kissing scenes"

They are, straight dramas have been using "sex" to sell since the dawn of time!

"Squid Game," "Connect," "The Glory," "My Name," "The World of the Married," etc, are Korean dramas that sneaked in random "sex" scenes to please their horny audiences. Do you accuse them of straight fetishizing? What about "Hit the Spot?" It was a parade of gratuitous "sex" scenes. Isn't that straight fetishization?

The inclusion of explicit scenes in Thai BL dramas isn't a fetishization of gay relationships. Fetishization is the sexualization of something that's not sexual. Given that gay intercourse is a sexual act, its depiction can't be deemed fetishistic. It's a tangible expression of intimacy and desire, capturing the ethereal bond between two bodies of the same sex

I don't need fake accounts or likes to prove my point. My wit and charm are dazzling the audience

Advocating for gay stories to be treated with the same respect and care as straight ones isn't a fetish, it's equality

We're not asking for something outrageous. Straight Kdramas have kissing scenes galore. Why is it "fetishizing" to want two men to express their feelings? The double standard needs to go

BL fans keep whining here and giving free publicity to this drama is most entertaining thing i have watched on…
Who said anything about Korean producers reading our English comments on MDL?

Korean producers ignoring the smell of burning kimchi and not tuning into the English comments is no reason to stay silent. We know they won't suddenly have an epiphany about homophobic censorship. We're venting, making noise, raising a ruckus, feeling the heat rise off our chests, and hoping that our collective social media scream will pierce through your ears, not writing a letter to the president

Venting is a pressure valve. You let out the steam and avoid a messy explosion. It's a cathartic experience. You know that, you're doing the same thing and venting about us venting

Don't get me started on your ignorance about the power of international fans

International fans aren't a niche group. If enough people complain about censorship, the producers won't stick their fingers in their ears, sing "la la la" and wait for the noise to go away. They will take their opinions into account

Depends on why they are "completely against BL dramas"

Does the thought of two men being in love or intimate set off their homophobia alarm bells? Does the sight of girls and women enjoying BL send them into a tailspin of misogynistic rage?

They'd be glaring examples of how homophobia and misogyny continue to pollute society

I'm familiar with Yoon Chan Young from his work in "All of Us Are Dead." His strong performances have no doubt earned him many devoted fans, and I'm not surprised you're one of them
