I couldn't get past the first few episodes because of the horrible grandfather
You should continue watching it. The grandfather really is a prick, but the rest of the drama is still nice. I'm only watching the leads' scenes as of now
I watch the remakes of ISWAK no matter how bad they are but this has to be the worst. Itazura Na Kiss is all about the chemistry but somehow none of the actors or the writers were able to convince me that they actually liked each other. The male lead especially looked dead and bored, (No, Irie/Jiang Zhi Shu was never THIS dead) and not at a single point of time did I feel any spark about them. I watched the umbrella scene and comparing it to the ISWAK umbrella scene, this was just so so bland. Jiang Zhi Shu actually let his emotions through in that scene which is why it was so beautiful, but this made it seem like a third grade child was asked to suddenly propose a stranger.
I've watched ISWAK and TKA about 4 times already and it's the only series I've saved to my laptop since forever. I've watched every single remake and adaptation, BUT GIVE ME MORE PLEASE. I can never get tired of this. I hope they follow closely to ISWAK, it's the most detailed and beautiful remake.
I'm a first year Undergraduate student but I have kind of a similar experience. I think my first medical drama was Emergency Couple, and for some reason, it inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. Watching DoTS soon after propelled that interest even more. The funny thing is watching Romantic Doctor Kim helped me a bit when I went for shadowing since I was able to recognize a few procedures and symptoms, and earned me a good recommendation from the doctor I was shadowing. Good luck to you! I'm glad you chose such a noble profession.
But it would be nice if you wrote this review later, who knows if this drama doesn't turn out as good as the review? People like me watch dramas based on reviews, but if reviews are written way before the drama even finishes halfway, it sometimes turns out to misleading. No offense, but next time please write it atleast after half the drama finishes.
The whole point of a review is lost if you are gonna write it even before the drama finishes even finishes halfway. Instead, it makes sense to give your opinions in the comment section. Whether a drama is good or not cannot be determined in just 2 episodes. Also, we haven't even seen what the story is, nor have the OSTs been released, and the drama hasn't finished. I'm amazed that you even put up a rewatch value so quickly.
I have watched every single one of these series, but the Taiwanese version definitely remains my all-time favourite, the chemistry they have is so believable and more importantly, I felt like both Jiang Zhu and Xiang Win were actually human (in the other version I either found the girl tooooo annoying and clingy or the guy too cold and arrogant which hmjust made me hate the whole drama). It probably is because of the depth of story in the show that made me love, and to this day it's the only drama I've watched more than twice and I'm debating on watching it again soon.
The itazura na kiss story is quite cliché, but I keep looking forward to as many more remakes as possible, it's like my guilty pleasure.
To Minho, BoYoung is a matter of his pride. He can't deal with the fact that she likes Ye and if she never had a crush on the doctor, I'm 99% sure Minho would never have wanted BoYoung. It's pretty clear it's just a battle of pride for Minho.
I kind of understand why the writers left Minho's character like that. The truth is, Minho never really changed even a bit. In real life, for someone like Minho to change, it takes a really long long long time and experience. I honestly didn't expect him to suddenly change his colors, and I'm glad the writers made it that way too. If Minho does change suddenly too, it's hard to say he'll be nice forever. If BoYoung ever ends up with Minho, sooner or later, she would have had to deal with an obnoxious who makes fun of her in front of others and uses her for his and others enjoyment. He doesn't look like the type that would ever give BoYoung the love that she deserves. People don't change the true colors so soon, and I'm glad with the way they're leaving Minho.
Am I the only one who started watching this drama because of Minho but abandoned him for Dr. Ye in two episodes? I never thought I'd be a Ye Line shipper.
I am pretty sure there just has to be a season 2, there's so many questions left unanswered, and they purposely left the ending incomplete, it just can't be that they leave the ending all open and confusing like that.
This is clearly one of my favourite dramas right now, and deserves to win so many awards, I can't even express how much I love this drama. Why is each and every character so amazing (especially Lee Jun Ki)? Totally worth watching, don't give it a second thought and just jump into it.
LIKE WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE THE WRITERS ARE FORGETTING THEIR OWN PLOT AND COMPLETELY CHANGING THE THEME OF THE STORY? How did this end up as 'just another teenage k-drama'? Why did Tae Hee (who was actually supposed to hate dating) fall for him so quickly? Honestly Soo Ji and Se Joo and the scenes of the two of them together with Shi Hyun is the only thing that I really find interesting. Most of all, what is wrong with the girl who plays Kyung Joo (Tae Hee's best friend)?
I don't wanna drop the drama but why are there so many things going on all at once? And where is the I-don't-care-about-dating…
That's what I didn't like either, like she fell for him so quickly, that too after the drama stressed that she wasn't into dating guys. It's like they're forgetting their own plot slowly. I expected him to fall for her first after the way the drama portrayed Joy first, but she's become just another drama character now
