Not much romance, but yeah, pretty Bromantic, imo. The two male leads are central characters and very closely bonded. (related by marriage/cousins-in-law, but also have a deep friendship) The series is pretty heavy in terms of history and mystery, having to do with spies and espionage of the Three Kingdoms Era, but their relationship is definitely a key part of the story and suspense. =)

Yeah, I can understand that, not sure how far you got but Li Hao Lan definitely grows and learns to save herself, at least in my opinion (it takes a while though). I liked her character arc. Without any spoilers, I think towards the end the show does try to explain reasons why so many women are they way they are, a lot of it pertaining to society of the times, and a few do have some redeeming or regretful moments. But, yeah, I definitely agree, many were over the top evil. I guess I just get used to it in these shows.
