Yes, in the novel MXY is very rich but the novel also says they both preferred simple clothes. She only dressed up when going to the palace. The fans also forget she was only 16 years old, had spent most of her youth away from public life, was in the military in a previous life. She wasn’t a spoiled young lady.

No, they had never met. The marriage had been set by the previous emperor. But schemes between her father and the emperor, they married “useless” Ye Li to disabled Mo Xiu Yao to mock and shame him.

Mo JingLi had always hated Xiu Yao and after seeing Ye Li was more capable than his wife, he was even more hateful.
