He loves Asun, but Asun isn't even blood, like Sheer, nor is he from Grasslands. He's his son, by raising, so he feels incredible pride over Asun. Sheer is his nephew, so he feels huge embarrassment. He makes clear, KHAN IS ALWAYS THE STRONGEST. Never Asun, but also cannot be Sheer.
Some are voting it down, and commenting negatively on Chang Ge Xing, because the love storyline isn't STRONG. Saying it takes away from the female leads progression.
One of the charms, is that the love story is downplayed, happens in-between the lines.
Love accentuates the ML and FL lives, but her personal love life doesn't have the role of single motivation for the FL . Back when she did things by heart only - broke the tenant of Tao, her Tao, which is to not force anything, the law of no interventions- people used to die, loved ones used to die.
It's when she finds her Tao - no intervention- that she makes better decisions.
She doesn't have to make anyone do anything, especially Sun. He comes to her. People comes to her. Life finds her anyway.
