It's intentional, CG's pull in two directions, it's not bad writing, it's character development and in line with the source material. Manhua doesn't say if her mom was murdered, or staged her own demise. It's interesting to see how the drama tackles it. The story is that of people growing, in one direction or another, it's masquerading as a pure vengeance drama, but this is very different from the Wolf.

It's ironic, because the only man who thought he was in love at the beginning of all this , Shuyu, was in fact the weakest in character, and love. Then we have two men who've never had the experience, I guess that's why love 'sneaks up' on them, and overwhelms them. Love has a way of kicking you in the gut, grabbing you by the balls, when you don't expect it.
