This drama could've been perfect is not for the fact that the Female Lead was a Highschool Student in her late teen while having a romantic interacting with a Middle Age Immortal Goblin. it's disgusting, she's practically a child pairing up with a Middle Age man. the Writer could've raised the Female Lead's age to her 20s and we're be okay with it since she's an adult but no they made her a Highschool Girls with a developing mind no less. blame the Chinese Censorship that limited the number of Episodes to 40. back in the day, we used to get like 50 to 60 episode of a Xianxia drama. this is why xianxia drama of the past has a satisfied ending since having more episode mean more thing to flash out but sometime draggy too.
it could be considered as an original script drama instead.
that's what i though too since i already watched both Ancient Love Poetry and the Last Immortal when it was aired, i though Moonlight Mystique would be connected with Ancient Love Poetry but after i watched it until half through and then i realised that this is not related to Ancient Love Poetry univese whatsoever, it's an entirely difference drama with it's own universe and worldbuilding.
