Not entirely sure what to say about this except the ‘elephant in the room’ where one brother just speaks Korean and everybody around him seems to be fluent...(they are both gorgeous languages but it’s just odd). Not sure there actually was a script but it wasn't awful, just a missed opportunity...
Crash Landing on You simply saved Kdramas for me - I absolutely adored it and it brought back all the kdrama feelings I experienced watching ‘Master’s Sun’, ‘Healer’, ‘Chicago Typewriter’ (three of my absolute faves). I also really liked Chocolate and Hotel de Luna but for that ‘I will just die if we can’t be together’ passion there has not been anything apart from CLOY recently.
I agree that Cdramas are bringing it but mostly via the Xianxia/Wuxia dramas like ‘Love and Destiny’, ‘Under the power’ and ‘Eternal Love of dream’ all if which I adore ;)
The plot makes absolutely no sense. Plot lines com out of nowhere, characters change suddenly and with nebulous motivations. I almost prefer the cancer storyline from S1, at least that had a recognisable narrative...
I am really not feeling this drama. It’s pretty to look at but it has no substance. Dean/Pharm’s relationship is a pale shadow of Korn/In’s - yet even that lacks serious chemistry - will continue to watch but it feels like a missed opportunity.
(Btw: There’s a chance I have been spoiled by MODC - best chemistry I’ve seen by far & a hard act to follow)
Okay, so despite the fact that I am definitely mentally scarred: this was a beautifully acted show with so much heart. I gave it a 9.5 (half a point removed to pay for the new heart I now need) to reflect this.
