When in fight mode, there are no winners

Weak class Hero 2 brings all the thrill, excitement, and satisfaction the first season brought, with more higher sentimental value. It naturally brings four friends together to tell a story about resilience in a world against you. There is nothing bad I can say about this show, it keeps the viewer intrigued and attached until the very end. Not a single dull moment, and left me reflecting about many things at the end of each episode. Dare I say this is even better than the first season due to a couple of reasons, the first one being the rewatch value of this is a lot higher than the first, and I'll tell you why. In the first season, the one thing I did not like was how far Beomsuk was willing to go to prove himself as tough, and he did it in a way that completely negates how the viewer is made to feel about him in previous episodes. Without going in too much detail, since this is a review for WCH2 not 1, Beomseoks character just did not make complete sense to me, a lot of his rage I understood given his history, but wanting your once-friend to be on death row? uhh no. The first season also does not show a satisfying repercussion for Beomsuk, even having Sieun basically forgive him (the most ridiculous part), when it was mostly his fault for what happened to Suho. I completely disagree with anyone who feels this season is worse than the first, I think those people are the type who wanted something extra and gimmicky, and this drama was never that in the first place. It is not about cute bromance, although we love LOVE the friendship aspect of this show, the purpose of this show is very much more than that. This show aims to show how there are no winners when you are constantly in fight mode, and they delivered this message so meaningfully. This is also the reason why there are more fight scenes in this drama.

The flow of this season was so beautifully done. A lot of times when a second season is made for a show like this, they rehash the first season into something more chaotic and all over the place, using higher budgets to make things more flashy. But in weak class hero 2's case, you can see how much time they spent writing this drama to what it is. They took their time to come up with a new story that viewers would find interesting. The acting is spectacular by all the cast, and if you pay attention enough to small details, you can see how much effort they put into making this feel like an authentic high school experience with realistic students. As someone who taught in a middle school in SK (one being an all boys school), I am so impressed by how relatable this drama is. It made me feel nostaglic and I think that is one of the biggest reasons why I, and others, watch school-based dramas. I also do not have the right words to even describe Jihoon's portrayal of his role, he is truly a gem of an actor and I think this show has done so well due to how he approached this role. I cannot imagine this show without him, and I actually had no idea who he was prior to this show, I really thought this man was just a newbie actor.
