I haven't started WTME yet since I decided to save it for the holidays, but I'll see how it plays out. But yeah I prefer these types of "slow-paced" dramas over dramas that throw things in my face and expect me to make my own build up to it. Lol, I blame short dramas for ruining peoples attention span.

I understand the struggle 😪, I've been grateful to Tencent cause their dramas that I love actually has development within, I'm not just taken from an action scene to the next. Lol, that's funny, "with nothing happening", it actually provides me with a window to understand whats going on and to puzzle things together. I was in the minority loving the first 4 eps, it was the perfect pace for me, especially the development between the leads. But oh well, everyones differently I guess...
I try my best to not be judgemental, but sometimes I really wonder about people's brain. For the past days that this drama aired, I just see people spamming "oh what a slow pace" and I sit there and wonder if its my brain circuit that is slow cause this feels like a normal paced drama. I'm not fond of the short drama trend that has seem to overtaken everyones brain chemistry to think that an arc taking 4 episodes is slow... That makes me think back to why the 40 ep rule was introduced, minus the budget constraints, clearly short dramas/15s reels has had a detrimental effect. Even despite the rule being lifted, I understand why platforms are still leaning to have smaller number of episodes. I love cdramas, mainly for the development stages, dramas with this type of pace helps to fully connect with each character, instead of just shoving everything in my face and expecting me to feel anything for something that just happens in the span of a cooking 2minute noodles. Anyway enough with that yap session. I'm truly digging into the drama and will savour it slowly as its exam season. Let's see what drama expects us.
Its one of my opinions that'd probably get me cancelled in this department. I just don't get why people need a…
It's excalty why I avoid watching western romance series, noy even romance, you'd have a crime series and they'd make sure to slip a scene in there, it's just ergh for me. Yeah same thats why I love Chinese dramas, everythings calm, the sex scenes are behind closed doors (as it should be). I haven't touched Kdramas in quite a while, but I doubt Cdramas would ever get so Americanised, especially with the NRTA around. I'm not worried about kiss scenes, sometimes I'll see it through or just sit and wait until that montage is done.
People and their love for Kiss scenes. lol I feel like people are starve for it and I do not get why. That is…
Its one of my opinions that'd probably get me cancelled in this department. I just don't get why people need a kiss scene for the romance to be "real". Anything is better than physical chemistry for me. Maybe cause I'm rather young, but when it comes to kiss scences, I just sit there and wonder about real life while that goes on in the background. People should go watch their American dramas if they want those scenes so badly...
I have the feeling that from EP 39 they chopped off a lot of scenes , until then the drama had a good flow, but…
It's something inevitable that happens to almost all cdramas, the flow is rather faster than before but it doesn't take away that I'm still enjoying the story, pacing is one of the only flaws I find within the drama.
Not much related to the plot, but I've heard they cut down quite a lot of episodes. Now my take on this. Despite NRTA removing the 40ep limit, most platforms are still quite scared to branch this threshold. Firstly in the "cold cdrama season" not many dramas perform to well, this strains platforms budgets for the other series in the making. The platforms are so scared that if a drama is too long, people will drop it and they'll lose money , thanks to the wave of instant gratification. This, too, airing on CCTV will have its strict rules. Another on budgets, more eps = more money spent so. The problem is not the writing for me, rather it being so condensed that you have to play a puzzle game of matching what you think happened to to drama. It's not really a problem for me as I'm loving the show. Screenwriters just need to be aware of these situations, so that the storyline flows well and doesn't feel overly rushed.
Why did it take Jinqi so long to realize Lanxain is not a maid? Everything about her goes beyond what is expected…
I, too, have no idea but I'd assume with all that happened, he never really bothered to investigate her, it was only today when a contradictory story was told to him, that he started to realise somethings off.
omw I just happened to stumble on chapter 150 and 151 while reading your comment and I'm happy they changed it cause wtf was that sequence in the novel...
for those wondering what the hell is these fantasy elements in this drama, well heres part of the synopsis of…
"Li Shuang, the adopted daughter of the Grand General, guards the borders of Da Jin. One day, she discovers Ao Deng, the Crown Prince of the Western Regions, who has been cursed and transformed into a child by dark magic. She names him Jin’an. By day, Jin’an appears as a child, but at night, he transforms into a masked warrior known as the Black-Faced Armored Man"
