I’m checking both and Weibo as well (I run a fan acc on tt and IG so I’m always trying to catchup on c content). But the majority of c-viewers is actually praising the drama. And all the trending hashtags are about the “good” aspects of the drama. Ofc there are dissonant voices. And that’s good. And I’m not saying you’re not right. You are. Many of those behaviors are despicable but I don’t agree with you when you say the script is praising those behaviors. I just think it starts this way to make a point and to give them “strong” redemption arcs. But with just 6 eps it’s too soon to make assumptions . And though there are ppl here who are almost neutral 😎 most are really strongly biased. That’s the only reason why some sh*tty dramas of the most popular actors are rated with more than 7.5. Many with 8.5. Those fandoms are huge and blinded by love 💗😄

Generalizations usually prove the exceptions. If you were one of the critics, good for you. You are consistent. But the reality is that this is a “fandom and bias realm” and ppl will overlook the problems when it’s their favs. And will criticize when it’s not. Consistency and coherency is not the main dish in MDL.
With this said, I really enjoy PM up to this moment.
I am really surprised people here thinks the men are problematic, when these are the same people loving shows…
Bc in most of those dramas ppl don’t see the MLs as “men” (even Xie Wei is a deity 😂)! Here, the drama and real life are (apparently) so well depicted 😄 that the MLs are all relatable…. Extra points for Perfect Match!!!!
One thing is for sure: not even 2 days in, just 6 episodes and 2.700+ comments…. 😆 we’re in for a ride!!!
I’m still enjoying it and this definitely is going for several redemption arcs!!! And a lot of happy endings. Perfect for this time of year! 🧧🎏
Btw for ppl talking about the” low budget look”, may I remind you that the production for Perfect Match started mid 2023 (script, casting, etc.) and the shooting ended in May 2024 (if I recall it correctly).
At that time these actors, though promising, were all young, playing mainly supporting roles and “low budget”-drama main roles. Obviously, after many raising to fame in late 2023 and 2024 Huanyu and 🥭 tv couldn’t miss the opportunity to sell it as a big production . But it still is what it is! Yet I find it really good. Even better than I thought. Lots of attention to details that many S+ productions overlook.

And if you remember, all “once upon a time” stories begin with characters making mistakes and life teaching them to be better! 😁 And the low ratings are obviously for completely diff reasons. Comeback in a few weeks, when ppl that actually watch the entire drama rated it and you’ll see the real ratings

That wasn’t a smart move but she bought it bc she thought she was in for a good deal. They all told her there was a buyer who offered 300 strings but was going to show up only the next day. She was purposefully misled by Chai An. Then she threw it away bc she learned it was almost worthless, there was no buyer and she was enraged.
My first impressions are: -I really like it so far.
-Wang Xingyue never fails to impress me as an actor!!! Whenever he’s present everyone else simply vanishes by comparison. He has a regal look and poise which are unbeatable. He’s great at being a “tsundere”. (In this case a fake one… 😂😂) And his diction is always perfect!
-I like Lu Yu Xiao character. She’s feisty with a good attitude! I really like her. KangNing is a good counterpart for the (up until now) arrogant and cocky Chai An 😁 but we already know he has a good heart
-Don’t like Madame Li development until now (though from epi. 4 she seems to be changing). I know it’s a comedy but I find the exaggeration cringy 🤨 hope she stops being so dumb and loud.
-I believe second daughter’s husband, Fan Liang Han, is supposed to portray the male general attitude of that time (this is 1000 years ago). Besides, he’s childish due to being over protected and spoiled. So (for now) he’s an unlikable character
-Loved the focus on daily life routines of the characters: brushing teeth, combing, washing hands, and so on
-Male characters make-up is getting on my nerves 😬 but on the other hand love the more natural looks on everyone
-All other characters need yet to be developed.
-With so many leads, each couple will have around 8 episodes to develop their story. It started with WXY/LYX characters but soon it will start other couples’ arch! Wishing for good and funny stories
-The script is full of potential but somehow still feels short! However, from episode 4 things seem promising!! Ep 4 was really good!
-Love that we’ll have new episodes everyday until February 15
On a side note, Netflix deserves to be congratulated for finally betting on a Chinese drama and airing it at the exact same time as a major Chinese ott 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Hope “Perfect Match” is a commercial success so this may be the first of many! 🙏🏻
