The main difference between the two is how they react when something goes wrong. YPJ immediately jumps to the worst conclusions about YCX, while YCX’s reaction when evidence points to YPJ is, “She didn’t do it, and I’ll prove it.” 😂 The difference in trust is striking, especially since it started long before their Redleaf train wreck. I think she fundamentally distrusts people with power and influence, perhaps because of what happened to her mother, who was betrayed by YPJ’s father in favour of wealth and power.
This should be 8.5+ rating. Ryan Cheng acted truly lived in this character. I don't see any lack from him. Such…
I agree with you on his performance. He’s carrying the drama. However, there are questions on female acting or how her character was written. Plot is repetitive, every cliche is used. Saying all of that I’m kind of addicted to it but I can see why more analytical minds won’t give it high rating
Just realized that him untangling her hair stuck in her button in episode 23 was similar to his bathtub dream when she asked him to untangle her hair from the necklace. Well at least part of his fantasy came true
are you people actually defending this man I literally dropped it after ep 15 after he tried to force himself…
I don’t think people defending him or consider his behavior healthy. He’s a nutter. but people fundamentally want to believe in good. Dramas give escapism where you want to see that love concurs all and dark characters change for better. I also watch it from perspective of republican era which was very cruel with very little women rights especially women with low social status. I do not think you could watch it in modern drama, and of course in real life run as fast as you can from someone like him.
I got spoiled about the ending too (script version). But I hope they shot an alternative. 🥲
I hope they won’t go full book evil on sml and there won’t be physical abuse during the kidnapping period. I didn’t like the whole kidnapping scenario and found it out of character of SML, there were other ways to take revenge
up until now, i was a fan. now the whole coma, getting married during the coma, amnesia plotline seems so contrived…
I really don’t like them starting relationship when she has amnesia. At least when she went to redleaf to save YXT she clearly knew what she was offering in exchange for his freedom.
I mean in the book he was cruel, and selfish and there was no redeeming arc. In the end when she was kidnapped…
I read the book and wish I didn’t, some things can’t be unread. I’m glad they changed the drama. The novel for me was more like how much cruelty we can inflict to shock the reader the most… I felt there was no consistent character plot, things happened and not followed through… more just pure torture on the FL
Look, I need Ping Jun to give in a little at this point. This push and pull thing is driving me insane 😭 Chang…
Agree, even if she said you are in my heart but not the way you want. I mean you don’t give public defensive speeches unless you care for a person. But complete silence, no wonder he’s confused between her actions and words.
PJ thinks CX caused the fire. Now she has amnesia and he will care for her making her fall in love with him. He…
I personally really dislike if they start to have a relationship whilst she had amnesia. No surprise she would get angry, she rejected him just before the fire/amnesia.
I started rewatching the drama from the beginning, and I’d forgotten what a proper b*****d the ML was at the start. 😂 He was a spoiled, entitled brat who had clearly never heard the word “no” in his life. I mean, auctioning off someone’s dignity for public humiliation while everyone around him just stood by and said nothing? That scene really reminded me of just how awful he was.
Looking back at everything that happens later, I’m not entirely convinced by the argument that he was simply someone who didn’t know how to love. It feels more like he’d never had to learn how to. Money and power allowed him to get whatever he wanted and indulge whatever crazy whim he had, without having to consider the consequences. It’s actually satisfying to see how much he’s grown since then.
On the other hand, the FL was fantastic at the beginning, and I really miss that version of her. For the past eight episodes, though, it feels like she’s spent most of her time lying in a hospital bed, being imprisoned, or being rescued and taken care of by someone else. Where has that strong, resourceful woman gone? 😩 I want to see her taking charge of her own story again, rather than constantly being put in situations where she needs someone to save her.
can someone pls explain to me this new arch 😫 I didn't read the novel, so I can understand why, out of sudden,…
The novel is very different from the drama, and honestly, I found it disturbing, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I can only share my take based on what we’ve seen in the drama.
I think she had already started warming up to him before the confinement. They had some genuinely nice conversations, worked together with the refugees, and he even took a dagger for her. These moments may not have been enough for her to develop romantic feelings, but I think they had started chipping away at her hatred of him.
I also found it telling that she didn’t tell her fiancé about the arrangement with Yu Chingxuan, which suggests she felt there was something to hide. And when the ML locked her in the room during the party (which I absolutely do NOT approve of, btw), she didn’t call her fiancé for help either. To me, this suggests she may already have been experiencing conflicting feelings about the two male leads.
The confinement itself was obviously a breaking point in the worst possible way.
I think the change happened afterwards, when she had time to reflect on everything, including what he had done for her mother and her fiancé. Perhaps those earlier experiences had already laid some groundwork, and she was able to reconsider him in light of them, despite what happened during the confinement.
Whether she now likes him as a person or is developing romantic feelings for him is a different question. I just don’t think her feelings came entirely out of nowhere. I can see the groundwork being there before the confinement, even if the drama could have done a better job of showing how she went from hating him so intensely to being willing to approach him again
