Weak Hero Class 2 (2025)... " confronts even greater violence because he cannot lose his friend again. "WTF is…
Lmao the crash out š. Season 2 is the main story of the webtoon and we care more about the plot and the characters rather than the actors. Thanks we shall enjoy the show coming soon on April 18.
I checked this out because people kept comparing it to Weak Hero Class 1, so I had to see what the hype was about. Overall, itās a solid action drama with an engaging plot and mostly interesting characters. The fights are over-the-top but fun, and I liked that it doesnāt take itself too seriously.
The Good
The storyline is simple but effectiveāa guy who struggles academically but is determined to get into university ends up fighting his way through a school full of delinquents. The pacing is solid, the action scenes are well-choreographed (even if they defy logic), and most of the characters are distinct enough to keep things interesting. Itās easy to get hooked.
The Issues
My biggest issue? Gamin is just too overpowered. No matter who he fights, he barely struggles, so thereās no real tension. Itās fun watching him dominate, but thereās never a moment where I actually worry about him losing, which makes it hard to be truly invested in his journey.
The villains were also disappointing. Iāve seen a lot of hype around the main villain, but letās be honestāpeople only like him because the actor is hot. Thereās nothing about his character that makes him memorable, which is a shame because the actor is talented (he was great in Night Has Come). They just didnāt give him enough depth to be a compelling antagonist. A great villain should have presenceāsomeone like Han Seo-jun from Beyond Evil, who had a calm yet eerie aura that made every scene tense. The Study Group villain, on the other hand, just felt underdeveloped.
And then thereās the guy whose mom dies⦠completely useless. He barely contributed to the plot and couldāve been removed without changing anything.
Final Thoughts
Despite its flaws, Study Group is entertaining. The fast pacing, wild fight scenes, and engaging plot make it fun to watch, even if itās not the most realistic or emotionally gripping drama. If youāre looking for action and donāt mind a little absurdity, itās definitely worth checking out. Overall 9/10
I've finally finished this and oh boy how the mighty have fallen Alright, Iāve seen a lot of debates about which season is better, so hereās my two cents. And no, my issue with Season 2 is NOT about the actress change. Go Yoon-jung is great; Iāve seen her in other dramas, and she can act. My problem is with how they handled Naksuās character.
The Naksu Issue
In Season 1, Naksu was a top-tier assassin, intelligent, ruthless, and strategic, even when stuck in Mu-deokās body. She was a force. But in Season 2? She was just... there. Stripped of her memories, her skills, and honestly, her entire personality. Instead of being the sharp, badass character we loved, she became a damsel in distress. People defend it by saying, āOh, but she lost her memories,ā but come on. Even if she didnāt remember being Naksu, she shouldāve still had that fire in her. Instead, they turned her into someone who just reacts to everything happening around her rather than taking control like before.
Jang Uk ā A Solid Character Arc
Jang Uk, though? He was consistent. In Season 1, he was fun, ambitious, and struggling to prove himself. In Season 2, he became a tragic, brooding anti-hero, which made sense considering what he went through. His character arc worked, and I liked seeing his pain and how he dealt with his new power. But letās be honestāhis whole romance in Season 2 only worked because of the hot leads having chemistry. If weāre being real, most people who love Season 2 just wanted to see Lee Jae-wook and Go Yoon-jung making heart eyes at each other. Thatās literally the only argument Iāve seen in favor of Season 2. Not the plot, not the writingājust vibes.
The Plot, Theme & Consistency
Iāll give credit where itās dueāAlchemy of Souls overall had a great world-building setup, and the plot remained engaging. Season 2 had a darker, more mature theme, which I didnāt mind. But the problem was. consistency. Some storylines felt rushed, and a lot of what made Season 1 special (like the humor and squad dynamics) was missing. It felt like they were so focused on making Jang Uk broody and tragic that they forgot to let the characters breathe. If you loved Season 2, thatās fine! But letās be honest, itās not because the story was betterāitās because two insanely attractive leads had romantic tension. Meanwhile, Season 1 gave us a better balance of action, humor, romance, and world-building. I just wish they had handled Naksuās character with the same care in Season 2. Would have made the whole thing way more impactful.
