It's a very beautiful prequel...
But ofcourse if you cannot get into it, just watch this one. Someone can fill in the details for you. The prequel is heart wrenchingly beautiful which will make you cherish this modern part way more!

It's sad but the sequel is the continuation of this story which will have a HE. This is just half of the story.
but GMBP was the story on it's own, the epilogues were just a little part of it to balm the hearts but here the plot is divided into two lives and Shiyi is the connection btw those two as she remembers her past.
