I’d like to point out that even though Korean BLs aren’t really big on labelling members of the LGBTQ+ community, it is interpreted and understood by many viewers of this show that Jiwoo is bisexual - and not gay. So in my opinion, even though the ex-girlfriend plot line is a little tedious - all in the name of explaining Jiwoo’s past and creating angst between him and Seojoon - it’s never been the matter of her “not knowing that he was gay in their relationship.” We don’t even know when Jiwoo realised his attraction to boys (maybe it was before Seojoon? Maybe Seojoon was his first male-male relationship?). But that doesn’t dismiss his attraction towards girls either. It’s evident that he genuinely did have feelings of care and love towards his ex-girlfriend during their relationship.
