I'm honestly surprised by the amount of ppl who say that about HOB. I've read all three novels and I have to say (and a pause for the diehard MDZS ppl...pls don't kill me) HOB is the best of the 3. The plot for HOB seemed more structured and I loved how MXTX dropped hints that make you think you know where this is going but you really don't. With MDZS and SVSSS I knew which characters to hate or love (or supposed to lol I have to admire the MDZS villains for their masterpiece) but with HOB it felt like there was no "constant" hero or villain (if that makes any sense lol). Each character could be considered "good" or "bad" at one point in the novel (which I guess MDZS and SVSSS did do..but the idea seemed more conspicuous in HOB).
AND wow can I just say the character development. Like Xie Lian really went from "I am GOD" to "I am trash" to "I am IDGAF" and it was one of the most beautiful thing I have ever read *inserts crying emoji*
The angst was painful. The angst was...terrifyingly painful. And there were some boring scenes I felt like skipping but when all the pieces came together it felt soooooooooo...complete. And I loved how the storyline was able to flow mildly yet keep you excited and wanting more. But I guess this is just me
