Probably one of the few twists that I haven' expected at all!! Lovely, funny writer. poor Ga yeol chan :D
Besides the awesome plot twist, I am equally as impressed with all the cues given earlier. If you rewatch some of the scenes, you notice the subtleness.
- Tae Ri refusing to drink with Man Shik (we now know why) - Tae Ri and her ferocious eating habits. Apparently it is a family trait... Her brother likes eating as well - The mentioning of two kids of MS, but never seeing the other one - Lee Man Shik hurtfully looking at Tae Ri's bloody heels after his delivery mistake - The hair scene - The reason why he did not ruin the China deal, the Goblin CF and the cockroach incident. He was not only helping YC, but also his daughter - But even the best one that I totally missed was Yeol Chan and the rice soup owner. When YC was tasting the rice soup in episode 1, I thought he enjoyed it and recognized the taste from the noodles from Ongol/ Lee Man Shik. Only later do we learn that he hated the taste.
I find it so beautiful, because every scene can be interpreted in different ways. All the positive signs turn out to be negative and all the negative signs are actually positive
Joo Yoon Soo got too much screen time when I don't even care about his character nor his romance
I find his story and character very interesting, but it comes at a cost of Lee Man Shik. And to me, LMS>JYS. If it was 16 episodes, I think JYS would be nice filler scenes. But with a 12-episode drama... Nah man, we want the bromance
I do not know who was earlier, because the script is from 2018, whilst the movie is from 2019. But there are definitely some inspiration going on. Remember the scene at the end of one of the episodes, when all hell broke loose and they threw all kinds stuff at each other? That is exactly like the bloody party scene in Parasite. In both scenes, everyone went berserk, the background sound is faded away, a slow motion of all the stuff thrown at each other and a focus on the ML's face.
The drama is absolutely gold, but they should increase the screen time of Lee Man Shik again. There are only 12 episodes, so they should milk out the bromance. The scenes of Park Hae Jin and Kim Eung Soo are the funniest and the deepest, so it is unfortunate that it has been on a backburner in favor of the two other interns. Unless there is a season 2, there is no need in my opinion to flesh out the second leads further at the costs of the two main leads.
