This... She is actually the most useless character in the show... Specially her dialogues are like 5 yrs old kid…
She aggressively questions them and tells them her hunches without hesitation, then when they tell her the truth that confirms what she’s saying she’s like ?!? that’s nonsense!?! 😂
I still very much enjoyed the show, but there was a lot of useless yelling between the ML and the detective.
I reallllllllly didn't like how they added the romance between the brother and friend. Absolutely pointless
Finally, a comment about this.
Not only that, but it’s entirely inappropriate… it’s not like a neurodivergent and neurotypical person cannot be together, but I have no doubts that if this relationship was the other way around it’d be classed as predatory. 🤮
I know it’s a kdrama, but really? Was it really necessary for everyone (well, not all) to die at the end? I felt like it didn’t really add anything to the drama. The drama didn’t even need a happy ending, but I felt like this was just a cheap way to do it and get the “in the future” scenes they wanted. Anyway, maybe I’m just mad lol.
I think I’m happy with this ending, esp. in terms of the romance. Obviously they’ll develop it further in S2, but I think a disconnect between WYW and JH was established quite clearly.
I don’t like how MW character changed so suddenly. Something substantial should have happened at least…
Anyway, relatively happy, engaged though out. 8/10!
It was good, and one of the first Kdramas my boyfriend has watched with me (and not fell asleep, or used his phone continuously!).
Personally I feel like the second arch was a little bit disappointing. Just some dot points because I don’t feel like writing paragraphs:
- The investigation of the murder was literally ridiculous… (of course, gathering witness statements was part of the storytelling, but other than that, lol…)
- Seong Tae says he just opened the door, but actually, he did commit attempted first-degree murder 😂
- Personally, I feel like seeing the three women succeed in front of an alive Jin Yong would have been more satisfying
Okay drama. Not the best. I had to skip most of the romance scenes - frankly, it would've been better without them (but then there wouldn't be a reason to save the worlds and this and that, right?). Some thoughts:
1. My greatest drama pet-peeve: turning what were supposed to be strong female characters, into 'weak' ones. A self-made female president? Let's turn her into a vengeful damsel in distress! A strong cop who does taekwondo and doesn't take other people's shit? Let's turn her into a girl that's deep in love (and only that). Her doppleganger comes out to kill her and she's like "yeah, I'll let you stab me."
2. Yeah, just skip all of the flashbacks and romance scenes. If you're reading these comments you'd know that by now.
3. I sort of like how things began taking a turn from episode 13. The universe became a little bit deeper, but at the end... it was kinda like, eh, really? Was all that necessary? And the villain... sheesh. Hasn't he ever watched a historical drama? You take down the girl!
4. Do Hwan's, Kyung Nam's and Eun Chae's acting was great. DH's characters are especially loveable. Many of the side characters are also great (e.g. head court lady, JTE's team, etc.). For these characters it's worth watching.
This was an okay watch, but there were obviously many issues.
My biggest gripes: 1. The initial focus of the "rebellion" was to institute something similar to a representative democracy; to work "for the people". As a historical drama, acts of corruption are a given; however, the drama paid very little attention to ordinary people. They were just background noise... no lives, personalities, or wishes - just poor people who accept bribes and spread lies.
2. The female lead is initially portrayed as mischievous and to an extent, strong. Although she could not necessarily fight, she did have some qualities that deemed her as intelligent and useful to the palace. This is evident up until the end of the selection. As the drama continues, these traits are ignored and she becomes a damsel in distress.
3. Each party (including the palace) and every scheme was just... whack. They all had these grand plans, but no party was careful or thoughtful enough to carry them out. E.g. if you're going to claim another girl as your daughter, should you not have secured the safety of your real daughter and those surrounding her first? Or, if Eun Bo were to take the place of Eun Ki, would it not make sense to make an artificial scar on her body (also... the King was shot in the head, why doesn't he have a scar?).
Anyway... there's a lot more, but I'll keep it at that. I LOVE historical dramas, but whenever I watch historical Kdramas like this, I just weep. Chinese historical dramas are the way to go.
He didn't out as a good guy at all. I don't see where you saw that. He was just mad and possessive and wanted…
Hence the quotation marks. The point is that, if you're going to make school bullying a focal point in a text, it shouldn't be dismissed at the very end by showing the characters in question in a "different light". Sure, he's possessive, but there are subtle points in the dialogue and plot that suggest he's the one in the right.

Their costumes are so different that they don't even look the same, unless you inspected them closely.
