It was such a pleasure to watch it: so beautiful, heartbreaking but at the same time uplifting story! It wrung my heart at once, especially it's much different from typical C-dramas. Actors also did well job. It really deserve to be called a gem.

Dislikes:
1. Abusive parents who always know what's better for their children
2. Elderly people who demands respect but don't respect others opinion
3. Silly and clumsy FL - why it has to be in most of the c-dramas??? we, as girls/women, are mostly ambitious, intelligent and we don't need to be treated like a fragile princess
4. Rich boy is so cool, especially when he gives gifts like expensive cloths/jewellery or prepares exaggerated surprises. On the other hand, FL doesn't need to do anything for the relationship, it's enough she's a girl.
5. Love triangles.
6. From childhood friends to lovers!
7. Lack of balance between family and work - work is more important.
8. Talking during sleep - I don't get it at all! it's so rare!
I watched lots of C-dramas and it's really hard to find a unique plot.. It's the same with k-dramas.

Likes:
1. Superb costumes in period dramas - I fell in love with c-dramas for it!
2. Legends and fantasy motive.
3. Martial arts, swords fights.
4. Friendship/ family relationship between siblings.

Only one word is needed to describe this show - perfect. Slow pace drama which leaves you with some kind of warmth sensation.

Yes, of course. I just wrote what surpise me the most. Beside FL and ML, I really liked and waited for scenes with secondary characters and in my case it's quite rare. It only means that the whole story is gripping and from episode to episode is getting better and better.

Sure, I agree with you. When I wrote the post above I thought about C-dramas in general, not about this particular one, because The Long Ballad is really well-balanced and well-thought-out in every detail.

That's why historical dramas and movies are my favorite ones. It's always something more than romance. I like how Chinese directors show people's loyalty for the country and family. But in my opinion sometimes it's exaggerated and I often ask myself where is the border between love to the country and sacrificing personal happiness?

As Gizzy Ashe wrote I thought about Leyan. At first she was innocent and too naive person but after all hardships she went through, she changed a lot and understood how much her world was different in comparison to world of commoners. I also enjoyed the changes in Hao Du's behaviour which were basically caused by her influance. They were developing together through the whole story.

Such a great show! I've watched many historical C-dramas and its one of best among them. I always prefer strong female characters than a timid ones but SFL suprised me a lot, she developed in such a responsible person. Moreover, I liked the way director showed that even so-called "bad characters" weren't fully bad people - nothing is only black or white. Highly recommand this drama to those who still hesitate.

I prefer this movie much more than a drama, especially because of FL - in the movie she's smart, self-confident, natural and lovely, opposite to drama's FL, which shows her as immature, stiff and somehow irritating to me. Even though the action in the movie flows a bit too fast I enjoyed it very much.

It was a pleasure to watch it, I really enjoyedthe whole 16 episodes. The biggest plus of this drama were secondary leads - you will love all of them without exeption!

The drama was quite interesting at the beginning and after 25 episodes was just boring, I've just quickly go through the rest of episodes till the end. Some characters I wanted to have more screen time but most of them were complety bland including FL and ML, not to mentioned that their love was just toxic and they hurt each other on and on..

I enjoyed the drama, I really do, but on earth why FL is so dumb - she creates lots of problems and dangerous situation. I like her kindness and pure heart, but it's not enough to be a go doctor, she should be reasonable, every medical professional knows that "A good rescuer is alive one"! Sorry, I had to write this because for me as a doctor sometimes it was too much. So if you're not a med you will be fully satisfied with the show and I can recommand it in this case.

I really can't understand such low rating. I admit, at the beginning it was quite confusing with actor changes, but in the end - story, music, characters development, fight scenes equal or are even a little bit better in comparison to season 1. Highly recommand watching second part of that fantastic story if you liked first one.
