It's one of the best drama I've watched in a long time
Going to be long but I made an account to review this drama. Bear with me.ML: Deng Wei- Su Yi Shui; His acting in Miss the Dragon was what captivated me. I wished for him to do another movie as the ML. This is like Christmas came early for me. The way he act is so refreshing. Even when he's arrogant, mean or annoyed it's so refreshing to see. He doesn't look like a jerk, but more like a HERO lol. Very charming and that side profile is to die for. The way he walk, move, subtle movement when he's annoyed, jealous, happy and hurt is so relatable. His stoic look is such a signature and only Deng Wei can make such character likeable. His badass side when he's fighting the valiant is so powerful and command such great screen presence. The way he cares for the FL and how strong and smart he is.
The scene when he sealed the Spirit Spring and the tears rolled down his face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ohhh I felt that!!!!!!!!!!!
FL: Julia Xiang- MuQingGe: It took me a while to like her character, due to how flirty she was. At first it came off as unprofessional but I had to remind myself this is a drama. It slowly grew on me and to see the two character's personality later when she became XuRanRan it became apparent why the personality was require to see compare/contrast. The voice acting can be borderline too cute- but again, I had to remind myself she is only 18 years old. But she slowly became more mature as the drama progress. Her acting was refreshing....only thing wish was that her crying/emotional scene matches Su Yi Shui. In some scene, SYS would be crying, tears running down his face and she looks a little stoic, or smiling and doesn't match the energy. BUT: it could just be a me problem, because at this point, I am so invested in their love lol. The drinking got to be a bit much for me too...but I am not Chinese so IDK if wine/liquor symbolized something I wasn't aware of. I wish they did a scene where ML and FL went and got that whine that MQG hid when she wrote her last msg to SYS her first lifetime...
Side character: Each characters played their part and wasn't overly annoying. Each was refreshing and served a purpose. Except for all those disciplines that MQG took her first life time... I didn't see the need for it lol. My favorite was Zeng Yi: Cao YuCHen. His acting matched and was so nice to see his interaction with Su Yi Shui. Their little fights and argument had be fan-girling. The way Zeng Yi points his finger to SYS is hilarious" ne ne ne"
Wish the story for Qiu Xi Er and Gao Cang was more developed as well. They had a vision of them getting married but we didn't get to see that at the end. It would be nice to see them wed with DW and XRR.
Wei Jiu and Tu Jiu Yuan: Wish they concluded their love and child more towards the end. It felt a bit rushed. There was potential for a cute love story between the two villain, but fell short. But for what it was, I enjoyed their story as well. The scene where Wei Jiu threw away the blanket had me LMAO.
Chen Xin Hai- Su Yu and Zhang Wei Na- Mu Ran Wu: Su Yu's also acted nicely. Looks like a prince. However, his story development wasn't strong. It got a little lost for me. The sacrifice he did at the end was well served.
Mu Ran Wu: she played her character well too. She had to be there to keep the story between the FL going.
Ye Xin/Dun Tian: The story development wasn't as strong. I felt the reason for him to do all that was a bit weak...to travel to another realm to spend time with his wife and daughters because of regret??? Seems a bit weak for an immortal. The actor who played Dun Tian was also too " good looking, kind looking" to play the bad guy at the end. I wish the character who played Prince Ping was kept as Dun Tian. He looks more evil or even old Kai Yuan lol.
CON: Some audio sounds a little off. Maybe because of the dubbing and mic. It wasn't too bothersome but enough to notice. The story line around the prince/emperor/majesty was lacking. After MQG died, this story line almost went unnoticed. The half sister, she was non-existence until the very end. I thought she had died. All the CGI got to be so much towards the end. Maybe because of how beautiful it was in the beginning, the end got dark and it was so messy. I was at this time so exhausted lol.
I wish..... someone would have fainted and fell on the ground with the ML or FL catching each other lol. But the fainting was so soft, just falling on the shoulder lol. I wanted a long, embracing hug but we didn't get that ...
PRO: The soundtrack was beautiful. The chemistry between the ML and FL was phenomenal. Deng Wei, I felt was the shining light in this drama. His acting was beautiful, regardless of what character and timeline he played. The emotions was felt. The comedy and small talk was also hilarious. Its a good mix of comedy and seriousness. I enjoyed the explanation and each scene had it's purpose. The flash back was nice and not lengthy. The connection between each lifetime was simple and easy to make sense of. I am glad nobody travel through time and space lol. 18 years, was easy to follow.
The ending was so sweet!!! I could use a little more scene :D But it was very sweet to see that after everything, they had the chance to just live and be normal, with their children and a home.
Will watch again for Deng Wei!!!!!
