The CGI was hella bad in the beginning, but this turned out to be more than a decent prequel to the Detective Dee Flame movie. Even with a different set of actors it was fun to watch. The MC even resembled Andy Lau's Detective Dee. The story was fun and kinda resembled Pirates of the Caribbean with the Kraken. 8.5/10. Desperately waiting for that 2018 movie.
Whilst the 10 rating might be a bit high I feel it can be justified. I had already watched this movie on tv some time ago. After extensive searching for the name of this movie I had found it within two days. And I really enjoyed it again. Ofcourse some of the scenes are sublime, like the underground/water fight about halfway through the movie with the screaming guy. All action scenes were nice to look at it, they all stood out. The story was very good too, it didn't lack any ince tive whatsoever.This also had that Sherlock vibe to it. This will surely be a recommendation! 10/10.
This movie realy made me think, very enjoyable, though do read up on the events of the Feast at Hong Gate. I'll give it a 9/10.

I don't know what to say about this movie. Whilst at first somewhat confusing as to the relationship between our main protagonists. ( i.e. did Choi Hyun Bae really respect and follow Choi Il Hyun) and generally the film's consensus and destination. Later on I had mixed feelings and could understand why some saw this as a nice understanding of the gangster genre in that time and why some louthed is as boring or without anything to it. I gotta commend Ha Jung Woo for his acting in this, and the writing which didn't really lack anything per se. A good movie afterall with some American Gangster vibes to it. Can't rate it too high as I will most probably never rewatch this nor recommend it to anyone.
I think a 7/10 will be a fair representation.
