As predicted/previously spoiled, Seung-hyo's ex show up. But. . . . Do Not Cry. This helps fill in 1 or 2 missing gaps (there are too many to count) in their story.
I never watched Hometown CCC or Samdiri(sp?) because most dealt with "city" people returning/transferring to small…
Thanks @meredithc7_ -- " it took the cliches and weaved them into something so beautiful absolutely recommend!! hehe"
Well, based on your statement, I'll put it on my watchlist. I have said several times that I think this show is going to weave the various characters and stories together - especially after that scene with ML's mother and her handsy new boss and unpleasant lunch - shades of Seok-ryu experience.
Since it's the same writer for both dramas, there's a good chance she will weave the same magic again. 😊
I would have to disagree somewhat. It is highly likely that Seok Ryu knew she was doing much more of the work.…
I assume that we will learn more - because I also assume that the fiancee (a Korean/American lawyer) will show up at some point during the negotiation and/or construction of the flagship store for "Grape".
My opinion is the same as before, it's still like Doctor Slump with less plot and less chemistry between the leads…
I enjoyed Dr. Slump - got a bit behind and took a couple of weeks to finish. But, all in all, a good show.
But I am captivated/enchanted by Love Next Door. Partly because I'm here because of Jung So Min (my favoritest of all kdrama actresses), But also the stellar "senior cast:". The emotional tugs w/out descending to maudlin introspection. Whatever it is, I'm hooked to the extent I get up early Saturday and Sunday AM to watch as soon as it's released on Netfkix,
Bonus? - I'll be in Korea while this is still on-air and I cannot wait to watch real time, even if w/Korean subs.
Ratings wise it's doing well in Korea and spectacular on Netflix.
To each his/her own - if you don't like it, time to cut the cord and move on. Cheers. 😊😊
Chemistry is highly subjective so opinions, more often than not, are like a house divided.“Here”, in this…
chemistry is 50% Director (the focus on the hand squeeze, the long-shot of open eyes); 25% music/script/gorgeous cinematography; and 25% how well the actors feel comfortable with each other.
Director/script are intentionally keeping the sexual tension/attraction low-key for now but when the tension escalates, I have no doubt these two mega stars will deliver. 😊
While reading through some of the older comments, I came across one talking about a desire not to have a love…
I DO think there will be some sort of "connection" (perhaps simply similar circumstances) between the clear sexual innuendo of sexual harassment towards Hye-sook (ML's mother) by her new boss - a man who clearly has the position of authority to make or break her career AND whatever abuse Seok-ryu suffered when she worked at Grape/Griep.
I read somewhere that LND's writers (or creators?) are the same as Hometown Cha Cha Cha. So I'm finally giving…
I never watched Hometown CCC or Samdiri(sp?) because most dealt with "city" people returning/transferring to small towns. This one is different - Korean (Seok-ryu) returns to her city home. Perhaps same burnout vibe, but for the same reasons I was never interested in the others (big city ---> small town), this one is clearly focused on a variety of family dynamics - but primarily NEIGHBOR dynamics - older (w/out the proverbial "wise" grandparent) characters as well as adult (millennial).
First - apparently Chris was her subordinate, so may not constitute "harassment", but certainly inappropriate…
I thought the way he touched Hye-sook- kinda squeezed her shoulders while suggesting they go out to lunch - was clearly unwanted on her part, but she didn't dare say no. And then in the car, she was unhappy about whatever happened or was said during the lunch. One of the many small hints that there are more stories and character history to be revealed which is a major reason reason I am enjoying the show. I need to write up a list, lol.
lol k superstition reading some comments.... dont know what version you saw some but mine had english subbed even…
On Netflix, the difference is between "English" and "English (CC)".
English (CC) will provide ALL of the spoken words because it is for people who hard of hearing. Closed Captioning also notes who is talking (in a group setting) and also provide minor descriptions like "scoffs", "crying",
Also important note: the "English (CC)" subtitles usually don't appear for several weeks, and sometimes never. It's very unusual for a drama to include the Closed Captioning from the very beginning.
Examples of other current Netflix dramas that do NOT have the CC yet: Miss Night and Day; Romance in the House. When I was watching "Queen of Tears" I noticed around the time of Episode 10 that when I wanted to rewatch a scene from Ep. 2, the CC had been added and it was gradually incorporated but it was several weeks after an episode aired. Hope that helps.
Another thing about EP 4 still bothers me. Have the production team researched corporate work environment in the…
First - apparently Chris was her subordinate, so may not constitute "harassment", but certainly inappropriate and she could have bounced him from her team - but she never did. (And where was her lawyer fiancée in all of this?? There's more to be revealed.)
Did you notice that subtle tone of harassment between Seo Hye-sook (ML's mother) and her new boss. Something happened at that lunch that made her unhappy - perhaps he merely told her she wasn't going anywhere OR perhaps he made it clear he wants an affair if she wants to get a new assignment. Anyway, it was there and. . . . .
I may be wrong, but I think one of the many small stories in this drama might be the similarities between Hye-sook and Seok-ryu. Both women driven to be at the top and both used and abused (I use that term loosely). Hye-sook has taken lousy assignments (from Paris to small countries in Africa?), and in the end was once again passed over for a top position in Korea. She's an older version of Seok-ryu, but Seok-ryu broke free.
If we have time on our upcoming visit to Korea, hubby and I will visit that location. I thought it was hilarious…
I think they are all over Namsen "mountain" (where the iconic tower is located), but I'm guessing these scenes were filmed on what appears to be called the "Love Lock Bridge".
Is there people here from Korea and if so is it true people there aren't liking it much? Most of us like it so…
It has a LOT of competition but Sunday rating was higher than 1st weekend - in fact quite good for a cable channel. Korean ratings are important, but Netflix popularity is also critical - and this drama was in Netflix Top 10 last weekend.
The mix of veteran actors playing dynamic characters and in contrast at each other is making the show fun and…
I adore Jung So Min and intrigued by Jung Hae In (my first look at him) but the stellar cast of parents (not to mention several cameos) is simply icing on the cake for me.
Cursing someone with a padlock is next level of pettiness 😂😂
If we have time on our upcoming visit to Korea, hubby and I will visit that location. I thought it was hilarious that they used their "wish" for negative thoughts.
someone in the comments said that Chris' English didn't make any sense and sounded very AI generated (which I…
A bit of research would tell you that the actor (Hayden Won) spent 2 years trying to learn English. the character deserved everything he got but I don't think the actor was speaking "fake" or AI generated English.
Really? I was hoping we would not have to endure any ex’s. I was actually worried they might bring back her…
From the moment I heard that Seok Ryu's fiancée had a Korean name, I figured he would show up at some point. Seo Ji Hye isn't on the cast list either - she's apparently a "special appearance". I imagine the ex-fiancée will be the same (if he does, in fact, appear).
This drama is 16 episodes - lots of bumpy and sweet and revelation moments still to come - I'm looking forward to it all.
