I will probably read the Recaps and comments on Dramabeans (if they do it again) - if the story looks interesting (and I don't mean the romance because I'm confidant that weekender romances are not for me), I might jump in mid-way. Enjoy!

The break-up/patch-up timeline is a BIG spoiler and it is rather meaningless. But here are the facts.

1. When is the main couple officially together? Ans: Around Episode 25
2. Any breakup for the main couple? If the breakup is there how long (like how many eps)? Yes for less than 1 episode
3. Breakup period any time skip is there for the main couple? one year (but all in one episode)
4. When does the main couple patch up again (like which ep)? this is the big spoiler: The breakup and the patch up are all in episode 51. A rather ridiculous ending, but that means that for 25 episodes they are nominally "together'.
5. 2ml or 2fl syndrome is there? Hard to say. The 2ML was my favorite character but I hated every moment he spent with the FL. He was never a real threat to the romance.
6. Any ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend annoying character is there? No
7. Is it happy or sad or an open ending? or rush ending? Answer: a very, rushed happy ending for the main couple; happy ending for almost all other characters.

This show is rather unique in that there were two main stories: the main couple romance and a corporate battle involving villains. (In most weekenders the villains are there to mess with the romance; this one was different).

It's been a a long time since I decided to get up early in the morning (my time) to watch a k-drama the moment it was released on Netflix. I know release time is usually a certain amount of time after the drama ends in Korea (10:50 pm KST). but I can't recall if it was 1/2 hour? 1 hour?

Every 1/2 hour of sleep is precious on a Saturday morning (my time). 😊

A big reason hes trying to sabotage their marriage is because Hyun-woo is the one person smart enough to stop him from his revenge plot. Hyun-woo isnt greedy or a status seeker.

thank you. Dead bodies are OK provided the camera doesn't linger on particularly gruesome elements. I had to FF thru the surgery scenes in Dr. Slump, lol but that was pretty easy.

It's the lengthy scenes OF violence - the act of violence such as torture, or murders, that are unwatchable. For that reason, I had to skip Death's Game even though the cast included several of my favorite actors.

Well, that is quite the deviation! Recently, H Mart opened up in my hometown and I need to find an easy recipe and ingredient list to try it out. I liked that last little bit between Tae Min and his abeoji whose first request after being released from prison was to go to their favorite eatery for jajangmyeon.

This is on my watchlist because of Yeon Woo Jin, but the synopsis doesn't sound promising .

Can someone tell me the "violence" quotient? I'll give it a try, provided the violence is low-key. Otherwise, probably not worth my time with so many really good rom-coms available right now. (Wedding Impossible; Queen of Tears; Doctor Slump) .

Production quality doesn't look that great but Seo Ji Hoon is one of the few that I will try to watch if possible.

I'm glad they aren't prolonging that part of the story.

I think there is more than simply losing a child. Perhaps she was told she could not carry a child safely? Perhaps she overworked and fell (feels guilty). Perhaps the baby was born but soon died? There's more than a simple miscarriage.

I think you are right about Matchmaker Grace and da Hye being part of the conspiracy, but I'm not sure about Seul Heel. If she's the one who ordered the boar incident, then what did she hope to gain with the potential death of someone else? All that to convince Gramps that the shaman is all-knowing and never mind if someone else was killed? Eun Seong wasn't part of that plan - he was angry about it.

if she thinks Yoon Eun Seong is working for her she's in a for a big surprise. He wants revenge - he's using her. I'm assuming he and Da Hye knew each other in the US.

I really love this show with all off the conspiracies and how the writer is slowly peeling back layer after layer of various family events and tragedies.

This drama will have many twists and turns in a variety of stories: the main couple's relationship, her disease, Eun Seong's revenge plot against the Hong family, his manipulation of Hae In. We know who a couple of the baddies are, but there probably a few surprises and a few surprise good folks as well. In every episode, we learn more about different members of the Hong family but we still don't have the full picture. For instance, is Grandfather going blind or senile?

In the end, it will be up to Hyun Woo to be the hero, vanquish the enemies (hopefully with one very well-placed sniper shot) and save the Queen family/fortune. It will be quite the ride and I'm looking forward to all.

paleplum, thank you for the mention. I just posted my last Tuesday Trivia for this drama. And in doing so, realized I enjoyed the MDL community and researching amusing anecdotes more than the actual drama itself. I swore never again after TRHC until I saw that Ha Jun was one of the male leads, but alas. . . I found that character of Tae Min more intriguing than Tae Ho. But now I say. . .never again and I mean it. Cheers, Kathryn51.

Tuesday Trivia – My last one I guess. Although it’s still Monday where I live, it’s Tuesday in South Korea, so here’s my news and tidbits.

Various cast members have been posting their “final” photos on Instagram, but I always enjoy reading Ko Joo Won (Tae Min) and Im Ju Eun (Su-kyung/Tv Anchor Lady) posts because they banter a bit and clearly enjoyed working with each other.

Finally, it’s when I’m FF thru scenes (and therefor not paying attention to the acting/script) that I notice little things. And this last weekend (I FF’d thru 75%), I noticed (by comparing new and old episodes) the following:
1. The bedspreads in Hyo Jun’s bedroom are the same ones that were in Tae Min’s bedroom AFTER Su-kyung supposedly re-decorated. I don’t know if they were a holdover from when Hyo Shim lived there and I’m not going to check (but that would be even funnier if set designers were so lazy that both characters had the same decorating style). It always bugged me that the set designers didn’t make any attempt to revert TM’s bedroom to the way HE originally designed it.

2. The lamps at the Jeju Island “pension” are the same ones that again – were in TM’s bedroom after Su-kyung re-decorated.

3. Tae Ho finally returned to TS Fitness and that convinced me more than ever that they rented an outside gym for the original few months (when they were filming 100% outside studio).

This is probably my last weekender because I just can’t relate to the main couples who suffer, suffer, suffer throughout. I had more fun from researching things like Daegwallyeong Pass (which is definitely on our must-see list when we go to Korea and yes, we’ll watch out for the WToD) and the “60 Chicken” franchise (yes, plan to eat at one) and I’m planning to make Jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodle dish that was favored by the Taesan family).

Of course, 75% of the enjoyment watching LYOL was the great group of commenters on MDL who kept it civil and funny at the same time. Looking at how other viewers filter and process a scene differently helps reinforce my mantra that it would be a really boring world if we saw everything 100% identically. Cheers, Kathryn 51.

Episode 51 Rating: 22.0% (not the highest - but close)

Lots of viewers say they hate the "corporate" stuff, but the highest ratings for the drama occurred during the Taesan Group battle - beginning with the two cousins battling for control, makjang moment after makjang moment; conspiracies layered upon conspiracies, all culminating in the downfall of the villains (which is rather unusual in a weekender, I believe). It was absolutely my favorite part of the drama.

And then? The drama sputtered after the villains were caught and punished - at which point Deadbeat Dad shows up for Brand New - and Insufferable - tension for a few episodes. Hyo Shim belatedly (20 episodes too late) decides that by golly, she wants to experience what living a life independent truly means - and we get to see what? 2 minutes of it? 3 minutes with Hyo Do and Tae MHee? In the last several episodes, they spent more time with Grandma and Landlady saying Absolutely Nothing and Park Woo Joo meeting prospective. . . . . whatever.

My biggest grips? After Tae Min brings down the villains, writer-nim didn't know what to do with his character. Closure with his abeoji (confession time: I teared up) but ZERO between Tae Ho or Tae Hee after the 1 year skip? It's now clear that Ko Joo Won filmed his last scenes a couple of weeks ago because I now understand his ig "story" he posted back then - a video of him walking oceanside with the comment "time to go fishing" or "Let's catch some fish". This was his "drama" comeback, I believe (I know nothing about the actor) and I hope he will have a good future.
