Out of all the Filippino BLs that came out lately, I like HS the best :-)
I agree, this is the BEST, if not, one of the best Filipino BL series.
These, for me, are the reasons why HS is the best: • Its romantic and not overly cheesy. • It has something to say, lessons to impart with the viewers without being Preachy. • Acting is Superb (JC Alcantara is really good in this series). Not OVERLY done like the others (example, in some BLs, the Actor/Actress is always shouting for no reason at all hahaha) • the Supporting casts have some stories to tell too and NOT just there to add some comic relief or be just the "supporting" character or "shipper" • They did not use the "COVID-19" story arc with the characters. The fact that they are in Quarantine is enough to show what effect has the Pandemic to them. The series don't need overly dramatic story arcs just prove that the show has some "depth" in it. • they did not Extend the show for the sake of "extending" it. Instead they ofted for a Movie sequel which is better than extending the current season like the other BLs (with the current situation in the Philippines, Quarantine restrictions are still in place) • it has its own fair share of cliches but they did it in a refreshing way • the series has a clear identity, a clear storyline and they managed to stick to it. HS is in a College setting so the series stayed true to that.. not unlike the other series that they wanted to put too many story arcs on the lead characters that their chemistry went down the drain as the series progresses.
And lastly, Filipinos has a word "kilig" and HS is just pure Kilig.. but with Life Lessons that you will surely get without being preached at because the characters and situations are so relatable hehe
My first produce 101 and I love it, there's no unnecessary drama and I like that the trainees are true amateurs…
Yes.. I agree.. most of the trainees are "real" newbies (except for some hehe).. and thats what make this version relatable. Its kinda sad that the Pandemic hinders JO1 to really Promote their material. Im praying for their success.
I liked it overall, but the audio and some actings need to be improved. What really, really bothered me was the…
Oh yeah.. they used a lot of "effeminate/over-the-top/cross-dressing" gays for comic relief.. its not good for the LGBTQ+ community that those stereotypes are still used for comic relief.. ironic that it is used in a BL series hehe
Hopefully those characters will have some kind of "development" over the course of the series
it maybe has greater production than Gameboys or Hello Stranger by having many location shoots and casts... but…
I think parts of the series were filmed before Quarantine started in the Philippines.
I agree, although it got high production values..the Pilot is Boring at best(although there are a lot going on)....also, the acting was bad... the story was good(like most BLs) but the script was bad.
And there are a lot of slowmo shots hahaha.. like wth?! hahaha The background music is too distracting.. its like we are watchint a Disney movie hahaha
Hoping that their acting will improve as the series progresses.
The whole series lost points for me this week. Whats with all the awkward silence? For goodness sake someone say…
Yeah.. I think that member is a Straight Woman hehe Thats why I think its hard for her and other "straight" woman here to relate to Mico because its really hard to admit/confess that you like that person of the "same" gender. No hate Im just saying hehe
Although Hello Stranger is a BL series.. its sensibilities is the same with that of a gay/queer series/movie so Heterosexuals might find the series a little bit confusing/dumb/stupid at times hehe
I agree with you, but it's something that I've seen happen in almost every series, BL and non-BL. And as soon…
True that. But...I think thats what I love about HS, its not trying to be something that its not. Its not trying to be "preachy", it just shows it. Its not saying/teaching things just for the sake of saying "something important". Its lessons are organic and not forced. Just like the scene when Mico admitted that he likes Xavier... the Young Padawans did not ask if he is gay or whatnot. They accept him for who he is. And that SAYs A LOT about acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community hehe
I agree with that simple storyline but you failed to mention it though that what have been shown in the series…
Youre absolutely right about the acting. JC Alcantara portrays "Mico" will realness and honesty. The story is simple but "relatable. HS is really a good BL series.
BTW...don't mind the opinion of "Pinoy BL Series"... he/she HATEs HS thats why he/she always give that kind of comments to HS. He/She always downplays the message and the quality of HS. Also, I think He/She is a big "Gameboys" fanatic that is why he/she is here to spread that kind of comment. His/Her comments to GB are ALWAYS good, and always praises the show even if there also missteps and cringey moments in GB.
Btw.. no hate intended.. just my observations hehe
I'm probably going to get some blowback for this and I'm sorry, but ep. 6 was ridiculous. Nobody in his right…
I think Mico reacted that way because he thought that Xavier is straight and its impossible for Xavier to like him? If you are a straight person you wouldn't understand hehe If you are a boy/man and your ultimate crush...a STRAIGHT boy/man...and you never felt this way before and suddenly He confessed to you.. I wouldn't believe it either hehe Because in reality... in the eyes of the World.. Love is for Heterosexual people ONLY.. No hate here..Im just saying hehe.. anyway, its sad that Mico and Xavier have to go through this
Pretty disappointed too on how Mico AND Xaxier reacted... but in a way... we cannot blame them for reacting that…
Well we must admit.. Homosexual love was, is, and will never be easy.... maybe after 10 to 15 years we might see improvement.. But I must admit.. the misunderstanding between Xavier and Mico at the start of the episode is common among same sex love.. I expereinced it too hehe
I'm actually pretty disappointed in Mico right now and didn't even cry at what happened. But we all do this and…
Pretty disappointed too on how Mico AND Xaxier reacted... but in a way... we cannot blame them for reacting that way because (1) Xavier has an ex-GIRLfriend, its his first time feeling that way with another boy (2) Its Mico's first time feeling this way, and its with a boy (3) Mico thought that it was a joke because maybe he thought that Xavier is only into Girls and its impossible for Xavier to like Him. I get the feeling that Crystal is sensing that Xavier is having feelings for Mico. I think shes not gonna be like the "problematic" gf to Xavier.. I think she will undertand the situation.. hopefully hehe But at least.. Seph finally confessed to Kookai hehe We all know that this kind of Episode will come hehe Hopefully they end it pretty well.. just 2 Episodes left
Do we really need to compare GB to HS..like really..is it just because they're both pinoy BLs and have digital/online…
Agree! Just support both HS and GB. The only thing that is similar to both series is the way they filmed the material. Both series are made in The Philippines which is, up until now, still under Quarantine Restrictions hence the "Videocall" scenarios.
I think the user 'Pinoy BL Series' is a GB stan that is why his/her comments about HS were about 90% negative all the time. Just my observation, no hate intended. Hehehe
I love this series, just love and pure fluffiness. I love the "Indie" vibe of it. JC Alcantara is really doing a great job portraying "Mico". The supporting casts are doing a great job too. I hope it gets a second season.
Black sheep might be a separate entity. Or another branch of the mother company used to manipulate tax declarations…
I think nasagot na yan ng Philippine Gov't agencies (BIR, PEZA) na walang violation ang ABS-CBN when it comes to Tax ?
BTW Tax Avoidance is a LEGAL way of reducing tax liabilities.. at yun ang ginawa ng Network.. sa LEGAL na paraan ? Kung may kakilala kang Accountant.. they know that ?

Anyway.. nothing much happened in Ep10 except for that "post-credit scenes" hehe
Hopefully they will address the issues in the add'l 3 episodes
