FF until they return - or just skip to the ML parts, if you are here for the ML - although if you hate the actress, it’s going to be hard…although she has good character development - if you like a story with good leads, no love triangle and lots of sweet moments this is the once for you. It’s an odd show - most people who persevere say it’s worth it - but some hate the actress too much and the SML. I purely stuck with it, cos of the ML cos I was initially so disappointed, but as I progressed I got sucked in, but for some it was a drag, so depends what you like! They have amazing chemistry (I didn’t feel it at first),but as soon as they returned from the 2nd life, it starts! Good luck!

The main point is that CK needs to go through the tribulations to restore his primordial spirit - it’s doesn’t matter who it is, just he needs to experience love with “someone” and she wanted to set him up with Yingshi as she is a bit scared of him.

Stick with it - or skip until they return if it’s doing your head in - it’s worth persevering, because if you are a DYX fan - you are in for treat! ☺️ (I hope!)

I do think he has the capability to play a really amazing evil character that we would all love (he did do a very pitiful Dong Fang Bu Bai - his first costume drama) - but I think he is too nice and might not take the part (when he was given the opportunity after winning the audition to play a sleazeball vs a good guy, he choose the good guy in Reset Life)

Ah so glad you discovered him! Whatever the series, the one constant is he is always so fab.

He has traits in his costume dramas that he carries through, like his little run from women he doesn’t like, and kicking his man servants 😳 - but apart from that, esp modern dramas he is so different in each of the ones I have seen. Think he was was phenomenal in LYST.

Yes he didn’t really exist int he novel, the prince in the 2nd tribulation was pure evil tho since after she died, he took her bones and taunted LCK with them, so LCK could never grieve properly.

I don’t find XM as part of a love triangle, cos his feelings were never reciprocated and she never thought of him anything more than a brother. So he is annoying but ineffectual so therefore bearable!

Although ML’s expressions at the end said everything - he is just so amazing 😍 the tear, the sigh, the head tilt, and then his laughter as his shoulders moved….I may have watched this multiples times 😝

Think so - but they had to go through 7 tribulations so hopefully that will be the last one and they can happily ever after.

IT IS NOT a DREAM I refuse this take on it 🥺 - she saw his star return and Red Thread Master said they had gone through 6 tribulations, so the final one was the 7th. I still like to think after the 7th, he will die and become immortal again and they get married and have a boy/girl twin and the Shenling sect meet up for dinners

Yeah - I’m not so sure about that, I think HX wanted to accelerate the death process so CK could go through the tribulations faster, HX just wanted CH/XY to keep sacrificing her primordial spirit and die!

I know some of you will be moving on - but I think a rewatch is in store for me. DYX and YCY goodbyes on Weibo to the characters were so touching 🥺

Am looking forward to another rewatch now that I know the ending. So many details! I think originally it was listed as 42 episodes on MDL, but it’s way too short. Instead of replaying scenes we had literally just watched (I know ppl are multitasking, but seriously editors need to have faith, our memories are not that short!) it would have been nice to have seen the deleted scenes instead. I do feel with more time or better editing, it would have been a 10! Just o many parallels and just so so beautiful to watch on many levels.

Aww sorry that you were upset, wonder if they know how much emotional damage they cause with sad/open endings. I don’t usually watch shows with sad endings, but knew novel was a good ending, and took a bet (cos I couldn’t help myself) I am still hoping for some BTS or deleted scenes of their happy life together.

I am not ready to say good bye yet, need post analysis discussions plus discussions of all the deleted scenes!! Also I don’t get the hate for YCY. Everyone has room for improvement! She had chemistry with DYX and that is what a lot of dramas fail, I can watch anything if the main leads have chemistry!
