currently 3/4 of my way thru ep 11 and STRUGGLING omg. the trouble with this series is i can't tell what it's trying to be. it starts off great as a simplistic bodyguard/rich boy BL, then all of a sudden people are getting shot at nonstop and dying left right and centre. there is next to no breathing room between big events, so it feels like an onslaught. i can't take it seriously when the characters are talking in FULL EARSHOT OF AN ATTEMPTED ASSASSIN about where they plan to go for 'protection' and it's the first place i would think to check if i was the assassin honestly đ and then when they get there, they're standing right in front of a window with the curtains wide open and the big light on, totally unprotected and unguarded and calm af. just no secrecy whatsoever. and i'm meant to believe it's high stakes? come on now y'all. i can't. i mean, i will finish it cause i'm so close to the end, but what were they trying to go for here? it's like the writers were playing Chinese whispers as their sole method of communication.
Pond & Phuwin are rlly selling that they're in love here, though. fantastic acting from Pond in particular. it's my first series that i've seen them in as a couple and i gotta say, i do love them.

nothing will ever top watching this for the first time. so many laughs. people say unforgotten night is the funniest bad BL, but for me that title goes to playboyy. although the horny Japanese gave me war flashbacks and i had to mute every time.
watching the last ep rn and I still don't get the purpose of the family drama in the last 2 episodes...
i read somewhere that the original ending had to be scrapped because of COVID limitations, so what they ended up with was the best they could do in the time they had left. no idea if this is true but it would explain a lot. those last 2 eps don't even feel like the same series.
and itâs a simple fact that GMMTV BLs pander primarily to a straight female audience. this show felt no different in that regard; just made for the sake of pumping out another cookie-cutter series for the fans who only watch BL. I respect your opinion as you should respect mine, but donât you dare accuse me of âmisogynyâ because I mentioned fangirls once. I might not like this show that much but I harbour no ill will towards its audience.
This series would be much better if they invited male fansâ or no fans at all, to judge their cooking skills.…

oh i thought i was overanalysing and projecting my ED onto the character but others noticed that too? i hate how it was never even brought up as like a warning sign or anything ... like everyone around him didn't really care how abnormal his behaviours around food were :/

it wasn't terrible but omg it was SOOOO SLOOOOW. Moo didn't even debut as an idol until ep 10? i feel like they could've had this whole series completed in half the number of episodes. not every series needs 12 eps, gmmtv! i was so bored by the end that i spent 99% of the last three eps glued to my phone scrolling social media to keep myself entertained.
i'm so upset that Tae and Yos's relationship got neglected! i was so excited to see them being as lovey dovey as the main couple and the writers never delivered til the last episode or two. don't get me wrong, Kang and Moo were cute, but their relationship moved way too fast for my liking. i HATE the accidental kiss trope and i wish it would just burn. a good relationship starts with a great friendship imo. Tae and Yos had that going strong for them and i wish they got more screen time as a couple.
omg how did i not know they made life on mars into a kdrama? how does it compare to the original? i love the UK version and i fear this wont live up to it tbh...

finally someone who shares my view on this series. i would've loved it if the relationship was between Noah and the other ML and you got to see how they navigated the relationship healthily given the complexities of the DID. but making the traumatised 5 year old the one the other ML is screwing was BEYOND messed up. were the writers on crack?

all in all, 6.5/10 for me personally. it's an easily digestible shallow cutesy cliché teen schoolboy romance that sacrifices its plot for a million drawn-out sickly lovey dovey scenes to appease the fangirls. featuring lazy writing and the most overused tropes in existence. i'm so done with pointless love triangles, forced angst at the end, and forced relationships in the final ep because GOD FORBID a character stay single, gmmtv. up your game.
