My name is Kira, writer and book dragon who prefers to live in dramaland.
I ventured into Asian Dramas Nov of 2023 and haven't looked back. Dramas to me, are like books come to life. They make me feel like what I'm watching is actually comparable to what I am reading. Previously, I was in the habit of steadily reading a book a day - until dramas changed the game.
KDramas: There is magic in kdramas, I swear. The storytelling of kdramas is unmatched, genuinely inspires the writer in me every time. I tend to watch more modern than historical kdramas, but the historical ones are so good too. My first Kdrama was Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth where I fell in love with my first ever bias. Can you guess who?
CDramas: Consider me spellbound, I have a tendency to watch more cdramas, they have a special place in my heart. From modern to historical eras, where Wuxia and Xianxia are always welcome. Favorites include LLTG and Hidden Love. Bet you guessed my favorite Chinese actress from these mentions!?
JDramas: A mine of creativity! Jdrama are so thought provoking. As an anime fan, I was super excited for this deep dive. There is something about jdramas that just hit different. The storytelling is so well done for often being shorter series, providing expanding perspectives, and broadening my philosophies on life and stories as a whole. Favorites include Glass Heart, Coffee and Vanilla, Punks Triangle, and Therapy Game.
ThaiDramas: I'll admit it outright, I have a preference for LGBTQ+ Thai Dramas. While I started with F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers and expanded to a few others, it took me until 2025 to really deep dive into Thai dramas. Now I am thoroughly obsessed, especially with BLs. I tend to watch almost as many tdramas as I do cdramas these days. Favorites include: Khemjira, Perfect 10 Liners, and We Are.
T also includes Taiwanese Dramas, which have a special place in my heart as well. I also watch other Asian dramas, though KCJT are what I focus on the most.
