I can understand how much you love this drama :) But I can’t because I don’t like the actress or her character in this. Not a big fan of the lead actor too - so difficult for me to watch it.

I couldn’t complete this drama because of the female lead characterisation.

Luckily I had started with CLOY, then DOTS, after BOF - I watched Suspicious Partner, Weightlifting Fairy KimBokJoo, Reply 1988, Sungkyunkwan Scandal - so many good ones that I forgot I had watched BOF. But of late I am seeing western folks led podcasts and resurgence through a remake F4 that this show is again in the limelight! It’s insane how this show has a following in 2022 amongst women - not teenage girls (who I can understand) but middle aged women 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

This is the best review of BOF I have read 😂😂 You cracked me up. Seriously I have no idea why this drama is a cult classic and why it has so many fans. All that is wrong with depiction of consent is there in this drama, and as you said MeToo or No MeToo - it doesn’t take much brains to realise how terrible this drama is. The trauma I suffered while I watched this because I was told it is some rite of passage for new Kdrama fans. 2 years since I first watched it and still can’t understand why people keep recommending this .

I have watched the writer’s earlier dramas and loved them - so I’m allowed to drop dramas after two episodes if they don’t work for me. Why force myself to watch something I won’t enjoy.

People are allowed to dislike your favourite drama my dear - don’t judge maturity of people from dramas they like or dislike when you don’t know them.

I couldn’t continue this drama despite everyone raving about it cause of the female lead’s character. I get people praise her acting, I don’t get that people defend this character like their life depends on it. Glad someone called it out here.

Good to see am not the only one who feels like this about the drama and Shin Min Ah. I have only seen her in two dramas - My Girlfriend is. Gumiho and HomCha but I agree she falls short on emotional scenes!

I haven’t watched Cdramas or for that matter any other Asian dramas. Amongst Hollywood, British, Indian and Korean series / movies - I have enjoyed watching romance in Kdramas alone. They do it just right :)

Me neither - I didn’t watch much romance genre until I chanced on KDramas. BOF romance is the kind of romance shows I have stayed away from.

Thank you 2TR. Luckily I had watched CLOY and DOTS and could have some faith to continue. I wish dramalist had the option to give it a minus rating! This was such a disaster. I can still try to understand why teenagers might like it, but adult women fawning over this drama and writing dissertations on it is just beyond me.

If you have Amazon prime membership it was available in the free prime reading library. That’s where I read it :)

Finally someone who has same sentiments about LMH as me! I have read the book - which even though sad is quite uplifting and depicts women characters really well; the drama makes Solomon and Hansu (who is an unlikeable character in the book) as important as Sunja, although the actor playing Solomon acted so well.

Thank you for this detailed review. I watched 5 episodes and the FL’s behaviour from the word go had a lot of red flags and I’m not sure how this can be justified cause she had mental health issues. I tried very hard to understand why everyone loves this drama so much and what am I missing. But I just couldn’t feel for any character except Oh Jung Sae’s.
I admit it is a visually stunning drama but it doesn’t work for me.

I was wondering if I’m the only one who was not getting the essence of this drama and now found a few here who share similar views as mine. So thank you for that!

I have dropped it - it’s not my cup of tea.
