With smart FL I recommended The story of minglan, the story of yanxi palace, they are two of the best historical cdrama out there. Recently I’ve just finished ‘I don’t want to be friend with you’, it’s very good!
Recently I have just finished ‘I don’t want to be friends with you’, it’s so underrated that I still can’t find a proper eng subs anywhere, the drama is very very very good! So did ‘someday or one day’. After saw your list, I think I will put girls generation 1979 on my watch list.
I love all historical drama, both asian and west. But some of the asian historical particularly has a very slow progress and the complicated background. Definitely agree on mr. sunshine and evernight, and ji chang wook (sigh...) and even the untamed (don’t throw stone please haha), I’m still struggling to make a decision whether should I continue to watch it or not, despite all the hype surrounded it.
This is some of the period drama I’ve watched and found it really good and deserve 8 points and up, have you watch it?
- the story of ming lan: for me this is one of the best historical drama out there. The story is fast pace, all of the cast are superb even not very important character, not dragging and we modern people even can related With their life (family, woman position, outcast son, etc)
- battle of Changsha: this one is quite a heavy drama with all war stuff and all the heart breaking but really touching story, really one of the best in cdrama, touban gave 9 score for it.
- under the power: as a contrary, this one is light, easy with power couple chemistry. No palace headache stuff, not too much politic dizziness, or third party too annoying character. But quite engaged story.

One of the best cdrama I’ve watched, no wonder douban gave 8.8 point. All of the casts are perfect, all of them includes all of the adult casts, they really act so very well. The story is well pace, it made you laugh, made you cry, made you feel like you are one of their friend. It really an oase after a couple of gave-up-in-the-middle watching those fans service drama. VERY RECOMMENDED! hope eng subs will comin soon. So far only mango tv have subs.
