Yeay! Another Allen’s drama that finally released the first trailer! As a fan of Allen Ren and currently reading this novel, I am pleased that the director and the novel's writer added Wei Zhao's perspective for the drama.
As usual, the adaptation from novel to drama is likely to provide a fresh storyline. For example, One and Only, developed the storyline from the novel for drama by its author which imo was a successful one.
I hope this drama will also turn out well without losing the novel's storyline. And yes! I hope all three of the main lead will make this drama a good one!
And ooh I see Gao Han too! I think he is a very promising actor! Really crossed fingers that this drama will smooth sailing until show time!

I have watched both of them, but drop them in the middle. I agree Zhou Yiwei is very manly, but don’t like Zhang Zhiyi at princess rebel. While love and destiny don’t like the ML haha still like FSF, he nailed it at The story of minglan, and now here.
Finally a historical drama with mature actor that can act, and a normal smart FL that suits the era, althou’ she’s a female minister. I’m kinda tired with cdramas with too young general idol actor and childish or feminist FL that not even possible happened in their era.
FSF is that kind of actor that you don’t see very handsome at once, but you will see his charm more and more. And JT is very likeable and smart. And her maid, maybe one of the best maid from cdramas!
I think casting is perfect! The only thing I regret is I watch it too soon haishhh waitin’ is torture!

Btw, I kinda don’t understand those Allen’s hater, why they’re so pushy about their ‘romance’ term. I do understand if people include kissin’ or skinship for the perfect romance drama, but that’s probably only for some people, not ALL people.
There is a reason why he’s still very productive in romance genre, that means they are A LOT of people (like me, for example) like his acting with his coworker, well althou not all of course on top notch, but some are really WONDERFUL! (Plus we like him for his personality too). And the most important thing is I believe a drama success or not was not depend on kissin’ only.
Life is too short , better go watch drama or actor you like. Let the 25M Allen’s followers enjoy his acting, no need to pass harsh judgement on one production which everyone already worked very hard on it only based on he kissed or not!
One of the best romcom kdrama. Kim Min Jae and Park Gyu Young are so perfect for their roles! Villain, dad mom brothers, employees all did their job very well. Love the ending! Especially when Moo Hak yelled: “Indonesia!” 😂🤣 Very very very recommended!

I guess if you read the novel than you can see ZSC in drama and in novel is a bit different. I don’t think we should blame it on Allen, if the director and MBFB decided that the script should skip the skinship scene and made it into beautiful cute romance instead of hot sizzling romance drama like in novel, then Allen delivered the passive shy very polite ZSC on point.

Hi, imho the ZSC in drama and novel is not exactly the same people, i think the director or mbfb make him more passive in all aspects than novel. From his relation with Shi Yi and his business. ZSC her is rather a nerd scientist than a heir of big mafia family. In novel he’s always prepare for the worst (he bring gun and know how to use it, a nerd scientist won’t do that; at weibo bonus he’s even spoke to others about how his wife like Wu poetry when they make love and not hesitate want to kiss her in front of others, that is not ZSC in drama!) Allen portrayed the ZSC in drama on point, his acting as a shy nerdy and very polite scientist is really believable. I love him for that 😁, but he’s not ZSC in novel, because the character is a bit different in drama.
And about the reincarnation stuff, as a novel’s reader I know exactly about the reincarnation, but if we didn’t read the novel or watch one and only first, i think people simply think she’s really just obsessed with prince Xiao Nanchen because she dubbed the drama. One of the examples is when Shi Yi draw lotus in front of the elder, and ZSC compliments him, the look in Shi Yi’s eyes and her comments really show nothin’ special about that, while in past life lotus is him, and when she’s drawing lotus she’s yearning for him.
I know the director and mbfb try very hard to adjust the novel due to the censorship, and give a subtle hints here and there for book’s reader and to connect one and only with forever and ever, and so far they did it quite well, but nevertheless imho it make the drama less powerful, because the essence of why Shi Yi is so devoted to ZSC from the very first time because she remembered their past life.
Btw, this is just my humble opinion for open discussion, don’t mad at me *peace*. I still think it’s a good cdrama, but I can understand why the novel’s reader get mad, but blame it all on Allen’s kissin policy, I found it rather stupid, he delivered the romance so good, that I felt his wife so lucky can see and kiss his face everyday omo 😁
Finally finished watched both of the series. And after translated the novel to bahasa indonesian, I have to say it’s fairer to judge it by their own. Pros: - I love allen, always my fave actor, i love how he potrayed a rather different ZSC than the one in novel. And I found it’s so cute with his awkwardness, shy and clueless in romance, totally different with his ‘historical general face’. And again he show us a lot of love with his eyes & smile (that smileee aww!). As I said, I will prefer to judge both ZSC different, because if we stick to the novel than obviously allen did not portrayed the ZSC in novel that is more aggressive, more ambigu character (as if he’s hiding as a nerd scientist but also a ‘big brother’ from the mafia’s family). - Bai Lu always a great actress, and she’s very beautiful and classy with all the outfit she wore. And she’s a little bit different with Shi Yi from the novel too, more naughty, modern and aggressive. So imo both of their character suit each other in drama, and their chemistry proof that. - The production is very beautiful! They did it with all the detail, a contemporary chinese old family. - Side cast: uncle jin and Mei xing! Uncle Jin is hilarious (that window’s scene made me laugh so hard!), and Mei Xing is supposed to outshined the very ordinary ZSC, and he did it!
Cons: (now here is the part which must judge with the novel whatever it takes!) - With no reincarnation as base story, it’s actually destroyed the whole plot in novel which always have that dreamy mysterious vibe. And without the reincarnation, it’s almost impossible to deliver Shi Yi’s stubbornness stick to ZSC from the very first time and the willingness to even die for him. - The ZSC’s family has a weak story line, I’m kinda confused whether they are good or bad, how big and ugly their business is, how dangerous they are. I think all actors tried their best (mom, grandma), unless uncle Jin that has solid character and storyline, all the other families is quite shallow and the weakest of all is Zhou Wenchuan! - With that 2 most important thing that made the novel shines, the love of ZSC and Shi Yi became just ordinary cdrama fluffy love story, that imo is too long with 30 eps, maybe 24 eps will make it a better pace.
Overall, Forever and Ever is still a very nice cdrama that will fill your day! Imo, you don’t need to watch One and Only first if you don’t like historical drama. But if you want to watch both of it, then watch One and Only first, after that Forever and Ever.
I gave it 8.0 because of allen and bai lu plus the beautiful production and without connected the drama with the novel. But only 7.0 if it’s connected with the novel.

People always looks only the skin (surface) of someone, like their appearance, talent, wealth, etc. in Shi Yi’s eyes, Zhousheng Chen is the one who not only has beautiful skin, also beautiful bones (inner character), he is generous, put the peace of his people than himself, kind, etc.
The Gu Chuan’s way: move the woman that you don’t have the same feeling with to the most far location where she cannot see any angle of your face, right after her full force and jealous confession. I like this guy!

I found out he’s looking more mature in Under The Power, and in his upcoming drama Forever and Ever, he will playing both modern and historical, and I have to say in historical he looks so mature and powerful!
