I've never written a review before but I must do so with Healer. For a long time I promised myself that when I find worthy drama, I will give it the highest score without hesitations. Not only I deemed Healer to be worthy but it was so much more than that. - Story - I started watching this drama because the teasers seemed interesting. I was first captivated by the action scenes in episode 1. As episodes progressed, I got more and more intrigued by the build-up of the plot: the use of nostalgic past to present time as a motivator, the strong connections between the characters and their background stories. When I discovered the screenplay is written by the Faith scriptwriter, Song Ji Na, it added to my reasons to watch it. Her well-thought-of writing is always consistent, leaves out tiring love triangles, clichés and misunderstandings. Healer met all of these conditions. In her script there's also attention to little details as well as simple yet moving dialogues. - Cast / Acting - The casts were perfectly chosen. Ji Chang Wook alongside Park Min Young swept me off my feet. They shined in this drama. As a result, I started loving them all over again. Thanks to this drama, I was reminded what great performance means. Ji Chang Wook, Park Min Young, Yoo Ji Tae and Kim Mi Kyung showed best characters portrayal, their body languages were accurate. Every stance or facial expression allowed me to feel the right emotions in the scenes. It's undeniable that the chemistry between the characters was out of this world. - OTP (One True Pairing) - Chang-Min skinship included many hugs, hands holding and kisses that were romantic as well as intimate, always at the perfect time. Each gesture or stare between them felt so genuine, heartfelt and special. The relationship that gradually developed was comforting, supporting and protective. They took my breath away countless times and made me fall in love with them. Not many dramas provide so many heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments; even fewer dramas make it so naturally beautiful. - Music - The soundtrack introduced foreign and Korean artists. Their songs have wonderful style that gives an appealing feel. Among the beautiful songs, 'Eternal Love' (MLTR) and 'What My Eyes Say' (Tei) are my favorites due to the powerful voices yet deep, tender melodies. The score is just as impressive. Each track accompanies the characters and scenes so perfectly adding to the mystery, tension and romance. When I miss the drama, I listen to OST while remembering my favorite moments. - Re-watch Value / Watching recommendation - Healer is addicting, thrilling, intense, touching, romantic and funny too. All these things combined together so wisely make it one of the best dramas I've ever seen. I will never get tired of watching it over and over again. In fact, I already re-watched many times since it ended, only to learn that I still love it. Anyone who's looking for a drama that has everything, from skilled action to subtle sense of humor, must watch Healer. - Overall - I never imagined I would love Healer as much as I do. From the very beginning, it has exceeded my expectations. Understandably, there are minor flaws in the last episode. However, I can easily overlook them because the drama is all I ever wished for. It delivered deep emotions along with a satisfying ending. All those who contributed their best efforts have succeeded making a memorable drama, a real gem.
