I expected more

I liked the storyline, the detective arc but it got confusing sometimes. Masses of evil people running around and what exactly was now the greater good?

Wang Yibo was good but by no means as good as in The Untamed. The other two detectives were awesome to watch.
The title for most annoying female, after watching this goes to Baili Hongyis wife. Has anyone ever seen a more annoying, stupid, cringy, good for nothing person?
I read this in another review and I could not agree more!!:
„And how can anyone forget.....EERRRRRRLLLLAAAANNNNNGGG! Dear lord, hold the wheel! 30 out of 39 episodes of this ear bleeding, shriek that happened 76 times per episode. Liu Ran was the clingiest, most cringeworthy, annoying, and dumb as a brick character I've seen in a long time. She was like a pet chihuahua that wouldn't leave her husband alone and wouldn't stop nagging.
Romance was the one genre that was not needed at all in this drama. When these kinds of scenes came, it was like throwing a well-oiled machine off kilter. It was unnecessary and extra. The mopey, clingy scenes just poured cold water on a hot detective drama where they just didn't belong. Not every drama needs to have romance because it just doesn't fit; it's like trying to jam a square peg through a circle.“

That weird try of a „romance“ made nos ensue at all. She was so annoying in everything she did, and she was not good in anything at all, not even cooking. She ran after him, nearly had him or them killed several times, never got, that he wanted to be alone and to just let him do what he needed to do, to solve the case of his MURDERED father. Murdered by her uncle, even more. Forcing him in a way to marry her, cos that is what she wanted all her life? Expecting him to be happy, that he had to marry when he did not want to, expecting him to care for her and be loving and whatever? Being so annoying, that I often felt, he should have been more resolut and just told her to leave him alone. That romance was so forced and unreal, with no chemistry at all between them. It never made sense. The story would have been a lot better without the scenes they forced on the viewer, including that character.

Dragging, boring and no chemistry

I was looking forward to the drama, because Xiao Zhan is always a delight to watch and I liked Yang Zi in Ashes of Love, but it was a waste of time. The whole storyline is boring, dragging and feels like a force. The Female leads storyline is the same. The character of the FL is horrible childish, inconsistent, annoying and totally weird. Sadly, Yang Zi had not the slightest chemistry with Xiao Zhan either. He had to carry the whole drama alone on his shoulders. His Gu Wei was great but that could not save the series. I dropped it, because otherwise, I fear, I would not watch anything with Yang Zi ever again.
