Hmmm. It has taken a while for this to percolate through my mind, but maybe this is our own fault. Surely one of the basic definitions of a Kdrama is that a story is introduced, unfolds, and is wrapped up, in a single season. That season may last only half-a-dozen episodes, or may need double figures, but it's a single season. I'm sure there have been a few notable and worthy exceptions over the years, but that to me is a fundamental definition. What Netflix produces, whilst undoubtedly great shows in many cases, are NOT Kdramas. They're just dramas made in Korean with Korean actors.

Netflix seems to be trying to take an existing label that will draw in viewers to their shows, and redefine it to suit their own commercial interests. So why don't we just stop calling them, and accepting them as, Kdramas? If it has a season two, it isn't a Kdrama!

The question was "doesn't need" not "shouldn't get". I've not watched every show listed here but with 'AoUaD', and "Squid Game" is another good example, the story was told. It was good but it was over. The "cliffhanger" (or sequel excuse) was just tacked on to the end because the show was , or was expected to be, popular. Design Folium's comment, a couple below this, is spot on.

I have a very high opinion of my own ability to express things precisely, yet even if I'd thought about it for hours, I couldn't have put it better myself! :-)

Oh. I wasn't aware that a season 2 of "Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow" had been announced. That's going to be a first for me. Never heard of a season 2 of a season 2 before.

As the maker, do you get to see who has voted for what? If so, perhaps it's time to 'Name and Shame'. Personally, I'm puzzled by people who can't read choosing to use the internet!

Er .... 'Vincenzo'? ... "Feb 20, 2021 - May 2, 2021". Obviously your criteria are way too complicated for some people. How about next year going with "STARTED in 2023"? At least that way it has the number '2023' underneath the name if it's a legitimate entry.

Hmmm. Looking at the number of shows that have had to be removed already, maybe one for the Suggestions board is the ability to ban people from voting who don't follow the 'rules'. If it's not already on the list it takes SECONDS to check it meets the criteria before adding it!

I'm curious too ... what weird plot device have they come up with to make someone WANT to be smuggled to Belgium?

I enjoyed his character portrayals in both Vincenzo and Reborn Rich very much. He often brought humour to the roles, not just with words from the script but in his reactions and facial expressions. Looking forward to seeing him in action again, but hope this time the character he plays is a little different from the last two.

I hadn't realised just how much that question had been rattling around in the back of my own head until I saw this question. I guess to people with a decent knowledge of Thai culture it was perhaps a little trite. Me? Now I know, I think it's kinda clever and cool. :-) Many thanks.

I would happily have watched entire episodes that had only Song Joong Ki and Lee Sung Min in. Superb scenes. They both seem to bring their best game whenever they're together. Oh, and throw in Jeong Hee Tae. He seems to have elevated hovering in the background to an artform. :-)

I struggled through episode one. There was nothing wrong with it, it just didn't grab me. But as it had good reviews I persevered. About halfway though e.2 (and BEFORE Lomon took his shirt off ... honestly!) the game was seriously upped! Pretty sure I'll be watching the following episodes back-to-back. With some lucky timing I should finish e.11 just in time for e.12 to have aired.

Why not "Saw it with my own eyes. It was so good, I stayed to watch the credits at the end"?

"Make It Right". There are probably loads I've yet to watch which are really good, but that was my first so it's always going to be hard to beat for me.

Sadly, as one of my all-time favourite shows is from there, I have to agree. Often they're poorly acted, using scripts the writers should be ashamed of, and I can only assume the directors were asleep or away from the set most of the time. As for editing, the people who do that really should have chosen different careers. Still, they're prolific, and every now and then a gem manages to slip past without anyone butchering it. Law of averages, I guess.

Ah. If you mean things that don't just reflect real life but have some sort of twist or kink, or are totally off the wall, then yes I agree. I used to have a life. Pretty sure it would have been a dull thing to watch play out on screen. Give me a superpower, or some sort of special ability, and I'd be back in the game in an instant. :-)

:-) Thanks. Have to say, in this case I agree with you though. If forced to choose between one or the other, watching him manipulate the family wins every time. I love the fact that they don't just fall into his traps, they throw themselves in with eyes wide shut.
