You just gotta love Gye Jang-su!
I'm actually OK with that. In my mind, if there's a Season 2, it's not a proper 'Kdrama'. A sequel (or prequel) is fine, where appropriate, but each season should be properly wrapped up, and the next a 'whole' story with no absolute requirement to have seen the first one. When they do make a season 2, it's usually so long after the first you've forgotten season 1 anyway, and normally feels 'forced'. Shows intended from the outset to be multi-season not included, of course. e.g. Alchemy of Souls

Tried to vote today (8th November) but getting a message that voting has ended. If this is correct, suggest it be extended to some time in 2025 if it's to have any credibility. Assume it's for the best originally aired in 2024, so it should be open some time after that. Not everyone watches stuff as single episodes, the same day as it's released.

Of course, the "It has ended" message might be bogus! I often get eroneous error messages on this site!

How can you say, there are only 2 episodes out. 😂 I’m sure you are her biggest fan ;) her fans always rate…
Rating anything 10/10, by definition, means that it's perfect and absolutely nothing could be even better - the acting, the writing, the cinematography, etc. Sure, every now and then something is so good, especially in comparison to everything else, you let that pass and give it a 10, but that shouldn't be the norm and isn't why most people here do it. It gets a 10 'cos the actor the voter is currently drooling over is in it, regardless of whether or not the show is particularly good. Or it gets a 1, 'cos an actor is in direct competition with their current bias. People should remember there are TEN numbers to choose from. A score of six or seven should mean it's better than average, yet I've many times seen comments like "it only got a 7, so I won't bother to watch it". The 1 or 10 mentality is disrespectful of others, who understandably expect an honest, accurate rating, to help inform their decision of whether or not to watch something.

Jong Suk be like that because this PIG Kim Chul give fake hope...Just don't fucking help if you give Fake HOPE..."POISON…
Yeah, that's the attitude that will "be the change you want to see". What a shame everyone who has ever lived didn't have the same outlook. We could still be lving in mud huts serving fuedal lords. Progress is a real downer, isn't it?

Title The King of Pigs Spoiler
Why did Jong Suk push Kim Chul?
He believed only an actual death would be the catalyst for the change he wanted, not just the threat of one. If you take his words at face value ["I'll be the monster, you be God"] he might even have believed, subconsciously at least, that Chul might be resurrected.

I really hope some American producer doesn't stumble upon this, and decide to do a remake in English. You just know they'd completely ruin it by trying to force a happy ending!

About the only advantage for a non-Korean speaker watching it with subtitles (well, for me, at least) is that…
I can't entirely disagree. Now I think about it a bit, she was probably the one character who seemed a bit "off" some of the time, but it was less obvious to me, not picking up on the language nuance. (I mistyped originally , BTW. I meant to say the only DISadvantage!)

It's been a while since I watched this, but no way is this anything like a 'bromance'. Anyone who thinks it was…
You're right, I don't understand. I don't understand some people's need to take a fine piece of entertainment and try to read into it something that just isn't there. My gaydar is fully functional, and I am perfectly capable of recognising a completely sexual-tension free type of bromance. This has neither. Doesn't even come close.

I watched 7 episodes, liking it so far. The fl though was a miscast. She speaks so elegantly not how you'd expect…
About the only advantage for a non-Korean speaker watching it with subtitles (well, for me, at least) is that I've pretty much got no idea who's speaking elegantly and who isn't ... other than the visual clues. (Pretty sure Mu-Hyul's grandmother isn't speaking elegantly! ) Of course, I also miss out on all the nuances of who's speaking casually to whom, and when, etc. :-(

I got to the end of episode 21, then kinda panicked when it entered my head that this has twenty-four episodes. Came here to check, and thank goodness it has fifty. I want to see it all but on the other hand don't want it to ever end! :-)

Given that teenage actors play kids, school and college kids are actually in their early to mid-twenties, and characters early in their careers are actually in their late twenties and thirties (yet everyone looks exactly right for their roles - do Koreans age at a different rate to everyone else???) I'm deducing middle-aged characters must be portrayed by people in their fifties and sixties, right? In which case, where did they get all the fabulous older actors for this? Did they bring them out of retirement?

I watched it 3 times .. last time was in May and I want to watch it again but I dont think I forgot it enough…
These comments are encouraging. I've just started my journey. (Just finished episode one, loving it already, and came here to try to see why several faces look familiar.) There's a Western show that first aired in 1999 ['The West Wing'] that I can't resist watching about once a year. I always think 'I just want to watch the pilot episode', but always end up watching the lot. As it's seven seasons of twenty-four forty-five minute episodes, that takes a while! I'm up to twenty-one times, so I'm afraid you guys still have a way to go! :-)

"... why is this 8.3? it should 0.3 at best just because they didn't couple them after giving hints in season 1."

What 'hints'? A couple of characters a couple of times (in more than a thousand minutes of drama) may have suggested a burgeoning romance between two other characters. Have you never heard the term 'banter'? It's not uncommon between friends and work colleagues.

And to suggest that a show should be given a very low score just because it didn't go where you wanted it to go, which is somewhere completely irrelevant and unrelated to the theme of the show is ridiculous. It makes as much sense as ... as ... continuing a conversation three months after saying "I am never coming here again".

You seem to think that the central theme in season one was a burgeoning romance, and that it should have been developed in season 2. There was NO romance in s.1, and what there was in s.2 was a minor sub-plot.

Are you sure you've commented on the right show? You seem to have watched something completely different to what I did.

I enjoyed it overall, but have to say I'm with the 'Season One Was Better' team. Why? I'll add my thoughts below,…
1) There were some seriously funny lines and moments in season 1. Season 2 had those too, but it also had scenes that (I assume) were played for comedic effect. Personally, they made me cringe, not laugh. In fact, the 'comedy' scene in s02e01 almost made me drop the show before it had even started. I'm not a huge fan of slapstick even when it's done well ... which imho this most definitely wasn't. Maybe I just don't get certain aspects of the Korean sense of humour?

2) Was Yoo In Soo deliberately trying to play a totally annoying, unbelievably stupid, and completely unrealistic character? If so, he pulled it off brilliantly. It's lucky he didn't need to go into a toilet cubicle in any of the scenes because I'm not entirely convinced he'd have managed to find his way out again.

3) If you had the forethought to incorporate a 'self destruct' facility in your secret hideaway in case it was ever penetrated by the bad guys, why would you then include a loud siren and flashing red lights to let them know when you'd activated it, AND ensure they had several minutes to get out before it went off? Also, why did it just stop at seventeen (?) seconds when it wasn't needed anymore? No-one deactivated it!

4) Other stuff ... but I'm probably boring you, so I'll stop!
