This is a good drama.. The only thing that bothered me was having to watch the FL Wen Xiao Liu/ Xiao Yao get abused…
Same! The amount of physical abuse was really hard to watch, especially by XL. What made it worse was that he (XL) had an inkling that she was a girl but still abused her. He's the most attractive male character in the series imo, but I can't "ship" him or CX with XY for that reason.
Exactly. It comes off as insecurity over their cp not being endgame lmao. There’s no need to attack actors over…
You are free to scroll past my comment or reply if it bothers you just as I am free to post my opinions here and twitter included. Not sure how my comment “causes misunderstanding” when the main point is that the actor shouldn’t be attacked over how his character is written just because of shipping wars lmao. You can make your own comment defending another actor as well if you’d like, I’m not stopping you from doing so.

There’s literally a recent one here blaming Deng Wei for the “lack of chemistry” lol. He’s also been attacked on twitter. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. And despite your assumptions, I don’t care about critique on characters because it’s true that all 3 MLS are varying degrees of red flags that I wouldn’t choose in real life, but I’m here for the entertainment of a good fictional story and appreciation for all the actors doing a stellar job.
Okay so I see a lot of XL shippers talking about how, they don't see the chemistry between XJ and that Jing needs…
Exactly. It comes off as insecurity over their cp not being endgame lmao. There’s no need to attack actors over how characters were written. Deng Wei is doing a great job, and chemistry is subjective because personally, I enjoy YaoJing’s cute dynamic the most. It all comes down to preferences, and XY/XL/FBB/CX fans should respect that.

Koreans wanted and expected a straight-up comedy from Director Lee Byung Heon but instead got a "touching" story based on true events. He said himself during the press conference that the reason this film took years to gain investors and come to fruition was because of the plot and lack of comedy (in comparison to his other works). He talked about not wanting to go too comedic because it would seem like he was making a mockery of that particular sports event.
Based on statistics, Koreans are only showing up to theaters for fun movies (primarily action/thriller, anime, and foreign franchise films like Marvel and Mario). Movies about sports with predictable outcomes don't do well in the film industry's current state.
why its flopped in theater? i thought this would beat extreme job admission, bcs the big name of seo joon and…
Because since about mid-2022, the movies that are box office hits in SK are primarily of action genre and anime/foreign films. Unlike Extreme Job, this is a "sports comedy," but also lacked in comedic elements and leaned dramatic in the 2nd half. It's definitely not what critics/moviegoers wanted from this particular director.
Some comments are overreacting (lying that they don't have a high school diploma? really? LOL). It's just one journalist's article with a format that's commonly used for clickbait/clout ("The Next _____ or This generation's ______"), but these three seem to elicit more hate because of their idol background and early acting criticism. The troika is clearly about popularity, not acting chops, because if we're being honest here and not having selective amnesia, Kim Tae Hee and Song Hye Kyo received their fair share of criticism for their acting in the past....
I really wanted to drop this at first, but comments weren't lying when they said that once you hit episode 20, it becomes one hell of a ride. Truly one of the best historical dramas I've watched in years along with Joy of Life.
Finished it yesterday, and while I absolutely loved Manwol and her backstory, overall I found the storytelling draggy. The ghost side stories were interesting at first but later became redundant. I found myself caring less about the present timeline and instead waiting for the historical portions at the end of each episode. The chemistry between Manwol and Chungmyung was fire and made we want to see Dohyun and IU star in a romance drama. But anyways, the cinematography looked expensive and the cast did great despite the subpar writing (imo). Looking back, I don't think I've liked a Hong Sisters drama in a decade to be honest.

Not Kang Ha Neul and Jisung being here when I think they're underrated (internationally).

Han Yeri is my top pick. She's so versatile and deserves more attention. Also, it still baffles me how Kang Hanna has been second lead for years and just started becoming female lead recently. She's not only talented but has the visual to be listed on top beauty polls. Her features remind me a bit of Sulli.

Hope someone does a list for the most underrated actresses so we can talk more about them instead of the ones who already being talked about. Edit: Nevermind, just saw the underrated poll. :)
I think they will only pick up the important plot points from both webtoons for the adaptation. As for the characters,…
Thanks. Great point! It'd be nice to see good character development for each role aside from the protagonist, which would be difficult if they switched out the cast midway through.
So they're adapting both Money Game and Pie Game (the sequel) into just 8 episodes? Curious how they'd do that considering not only is the setup different in each webtoon but the characters are different as well (aside from the protagonist played by Ryu Jun Yeol). I guess it could be similar to Hellbound with 4 episodes in each timeline..
But why does it more sounds like a squid game story line.. i hope it is not..
It being a survival game drama as well as there being prize money is where the similarities end. Squid Game has hundreds of contestants competing in mainly physical competitions and getting eliminated (killed) by the game organizers when they lose. Money Game only has 8 contestants and is more focused on psychological strategy, manipulation, and inner politics within the group as they try to save as much money as possible. The prize money in SG increases whereas here it only decreases from the initial amount.
Tuning in for the cast and director! I know people say this sounds like Squid Game 2.0, but Squid Game is like another version of Battle Royale as well as other Japanese survival game movies/dramas...it isn't anything original lol.
