Hopelessly trying - (◔_◔) Main target group of this show does not live in Joseon era so.. If the main point of this drama was historical authenticity, both FL and ML already have died several times by now.
Unethical? Wait.. What? He abandoned her, she knows it. Yes, in 'My dearest' time period marital status for a woman in circumstances like GC was a death sentence, but one of the main ideas of this show is - never give up your life for the sake of other people's beliefs and moral standards. So storywise it is absolutely expected that in these circumstances GC will go against accepted norms. And i'm so glad that this story was written for people who finally live in an era when the husband has no right to control his wife’s life. Unfortunately not everywhere, but these days there is nothing unethical about leaving a pathetic man like this behind.
Oh, i'm absolutely in love with Ahn Eun Jin acting in this show. The last scene in ep.13 - so powerful. And her Gil Chae so endearing, and strong willed character. But this probably why so many badmouth Gil Chae - some people feel uncomfortable outside their comfort zone filled with typical cliche fl.
I have now completed the 10 episodes. To be honest I do not think there is a straightforward resolution to all…
Yes, absolutely agree. Also about GC engagement and all - women social status in this historical period was largely dependent on man next to her. To be single/ widowed / or like Eun Ae wife of prisoner was very problematic for women. This man could become her and her family shield in patriarchal society. It's hard to turn down such advantageous for her and hers offer.
Just finished part 1 and i have many thoughts i need to get out.1. regarding the ending... even though i knew…
Yes! To all your points. Also I so in love with Ahn Eun Jin singing voice now. Her singing 'Only With Heart' for My Dearest ost now in my favs on repeat.
After ep 9-10 i love Gil Chae character so so much. This how you write historical strong female characters. She smart, resourceful and strong. And she not abandoned those who need her (even if for her own happiness).
i'm almost done with episode 8, but i NEED to vent. WHY did Yeon Jun not accept the king's offer, is he an idiot?…
I'm afraid he is much worse - he is idealist who do not think about consequences of his word and actions. Always forgetting that his family have to live with the consequences of everything he say or do.
No, not really. There is some similarities, but not too much. And FL just perfect, and i'm so glad she's nothing like Mitchell's Scarlett. Her characters growth is enticing)
