Though I hated it the first time I watched it... but then I dont know what made me decide to give it a second trial😂😂 but this time I watched it in a roundabout way... I started from the last episode all the way to the first and boy did I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee this drama. I fell in love with Im Si Wan and I'm writing this message because this is the third time I am watching this drama.
So to anyone who is having a problem with this beautiful slice of a drama, you might want to try the trick I usedđŸ˜đŸ€—

I am conflicted as to what t tell you😂😂 cos in one hand I want to tell you not to miss that drama for anything in the world and in the other I want to tell you not to watch it so you don't go into a slump like me (I am struggling to look at anything on my screen for 2 seconds without thinking of Zhang Wanyi đŸ˜©đŸ„°)but the first hand wins cos I want you to watch that drama like you ain't never seen nothing else this year!!

On Love Like the Galaxy: Part 2 Nov 27, 2024
As someone who tends to steer clear of male leads I don't find attractive, "Love Like the Galaxy" almost escaped my radar completely. But here I am, eating my words—gladly—because this drama not only surprised me but became a personal favorite. And I’ll tell you why.

First, let's talk about the male lead Leo Wu (General Ling Bu Yi). Now, I’ll be honest with you, I did not initially like him. In fact, I straight-up skipped this drama when it first came out in 2022 simply because I didn’t find him fine! My bias was that strong. I had seen Leo in "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love" before, and despite the steamy looks he was giving his female co-star in that series, I still wasn't feeling it. Honestly, I only gave that one a try because of a TikTok edit that hyped up all the male characters—who, by the way, deserved an award for collectively being the finest on-screen lineup ever. My dopamine levels were doing flips every time I watched, and Leo Wu? He was there, serving up intense, brooding looks but not really my cup of tea.

But boy, did Love Like the Galaxy change things for me.

Leo Wu: From “Meh” to Marvelous General Ling Buyi
I never thought I’d say this, but Leo Wu ate his role as Ling Buyi and left no crumbs! If you're not familiar with the phrase, it basically means he owned this character in a way that made it impossible not to admire his performance. Ling Buyi is a general, and Leo embodied the role to a T. From his commanding presence to his deep, unwavering gaze that felt like it could pierce through your soul—he was the GENERAL. I still don’t find him attractive (sorry, Leo!), but his acting? Absolutely spot-on.
The thing about Leo Wu, especially in both this drama and Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, is that his characters aren’t the smiley type. But when those rare smiles do come? Whew, it hits hard. And his intense, “I see only you” looks? He delivers those like no one else. It’s the kind of energy that makes you forget everything around you and focus solely on the tension between him and his female lead.

The Surprise Chemistry With Zhao Lusi
Now, I have to talk about my beloved actress Zhao Lusi. She’s one of my all-time favorite C-drama actresses, and her pairing with Leo Wu in Love Like the Galaxy? Absolute perfection. The two leads don’t even meet until episode 7—yes, episode 7—and somehow I didn’t notice! This drama had me so wrapped up in its world that I didn’t realize we hadn’t had the classic hero-meets-heroine moment until we finally got it. And wow, what a moment it was.

Let me set the scene for you: Zhao Lusi’s character is in a fire accident, and who comes to the rescue? Of course, our heroic General Ling Buyi. The camera zooms in on Leo Wu’s face, and in that instant, I (and my dog, who is very much a bitch—literally and figuratively) were screaming, “Yes, that’s my man!” Leo Wu was giving all the epic, heroic vibes, and that moment sealed the deal for me.

Their chemistry took a while to build—after all, they didn’t even have a proper conversation until episode 9! But once they did, sparks flew, and the drama never looked back. It’s rare to have a slow-burn romance that doesn’t lose your interest, but Love Like the Galaxy nailed it. I was anticipating every meeting, every look, every word, every smirk.

The Plot, The Aesthetics, The Hook
What makes this drama truly stand out, though, is its ability to engage you without following the typical romance-drama formula. I mean, the leads didn’t even meet until seven episodes in, and I didn’t care because the world-building, the story, and the supporting characters were all so rich and immersive.

Another surprise? I didn’t realize until episode 36 that this drama didn’t have a memorable OST for me . For someone like me, who usually identifies a drama’s OST by the third episode and starts downloading my favorites, this was shocking. There were good instrumental pieces, but no standout songs that I would hum along to or add to my playlist. Yet somehow, the lack of a strong OST didn’t take away from my love for this series. The story was that good—it carried itself without needing catchy tunes to back it up.

Zhao Lusi Shines Again
I’ve loved Zhao Lusi in almost everything she’s been in, but her performance in Love Like the Galaxy is next-level. She brings so much depth to Cheng Shao shang’s character. You feel her pain, her joy, her frustration. There’s a moment where her eyes speak more than words ever could, and that’s when you realize how talented she truly is. She pairs beautifully with Leo Wu’s stoic, unreadable general, creating a dynamic that’s hard to pull off but incredibly satisfying to watch.

In Conclusion: The Drama That Made Me Change My Mind
In the end, Love Like the Galaxy was everything I didn’t expect it to be. It had me hooked even without an early romantic smut, made me completely ignore the absence of an OST, and most shockingly, had me singing Leo Wu’s praises despite my previous bias. His portrayal of Ling Buyi will go down as one of the best male leads I’ve seen in a historical C-drama. His performance, paired with Zhao Lusi’s charm, makes this drama an absolute must-watch.

And as for me? I’ll never doubt a drama based on a lead’s looks again—lesson learned. Well, except for The Long Ballad. Sorry, still not watching that one.

(And yes, my dog and I will still scream whenever we see intense, brooding men on screen. It's our thing.)

Now that I have let all my rant gooo... I can finally sleep at nightđŸ˜đŸ˜đŸ€—đŸ€—
