I wasn't going to drop a review or comment on this drama, but I left this comment on the Spring of Blade page when we were having a conversation thread, and someone mentioned this drama as one of the best this year, and someone who knows me from this platform sent me a DM that she was surprised that I did not like Key to the Phoenix Heart, because I never mentioned it to her when she'd talk about the drama because it's one of her bests. So she told me to drop my opinion so I'd hear what others have to say, that the best place to get a solid opinion is from an argument (that's terrible advice, and this is an even more terrible idea, but I'm doing this for you brat!!!!😒😒😫😫) Here goes nothing

So why should I watch two lovers in a ROMANCE DRAMA who won't even share a kiss?
Maybe because I used lovers... I want anyone who is going to read this to understand that watching a MARRIED COUPLE in a drama, no matter the GENRE, who don't even share a kiss is ridiculous because it doesn't mirror reality in any way. So why is it suddenly unreasonable to expect physical intimacy in a romance drama?
And I'm not even talking about two characters who are merely flirting. This is supposed to be a MARRIED COUPLE. Whatever the exact relationship was meant to be, they were presented as romantic partners. Watching a married couple go through an entire drama without even a kiss doesn't feel like a realistic portrayal of marriage to me. It feels like the production is visibly working around the age of one of its actors.
Which brings me back to my actual issue: WHY CAST A 17-YEAR-OLD AS A WIFE, CONSORT, CONCUBINE, LOVER, OR WHATEVER THEY THOUGHT SHE WAS?
If the story was always going to require the romance to be toned down because of her age, then the casting choice itself was the problem. They could have cast an adult actress and told the same story without having to make the audience watch an adult romantic relationship with one hand tied behind its back.
And that's what frustrated me more than the age gap ever could and why I didn't enjoy the drama thoroughly because it was lacking in one aspect; overall every other narrative was good, there were a lot of major twists, and I even wished the romance wasn't even a key narrative, but it was, and they under portrayed it...

It's safe to say (and really I hate to say it) we haven't had anything remotely nice since POJ. Like what I mean is... a good finish, a satisfying act all through... like everything after POJ either starts off strong, gets lazy in the middle or spirals out of the plot at the ending.
And I'm even one of those people who've said that the ending of POJ was rushed, but still we got something good; every other drama after has just been lacklustre, and they are gradually leading me to my end-of-year drama slump, and I really didn't want that for this year😫😫😫😫😫😫

Respectfully, don't ever compare this to Love in the clouds (AKA Misunderstanding and Miscommunication in the Clouds). I will never see the hype of that drama... like EVER!!! It's okay to critique; I mean, even I have my own share of flaws from this drama but to compare this with Love in the clouds is just downright disrespectful
