This drama was great overall—I’d rate it a solid 7.8/10. However, there were a few things that really frustrated me. The grandmother, for instance—she got a mere tap on the shoulder? The young child endured years of abuse, and all he got in return was a simple apology? She needed to be put in her place, but no one truly did that. Sure, Su Jeong and Chief In Gyeong confronted her, but they did so politely, which felt underwhelming.
I was especially disappointed that the male lead never once lashed out at her. She tormented him mentally, destroyed everything he loved, and refused to acknowledge him as a person—even as an adult. She didn’t even recognize him as her grandson and instead blamed him for his father’s death, never once showing him an ounce of care. Despite all this, he worked tirelessly just to earn her approval. It made no sense that all of this was brushed off so easily, like a slap on the chin, and then dismissed.
Would have been perfect until last few episodes, Princess Wanning died way too easily, It would have been nice if she died a way in which she actually deserved according to her character - she was brutal, menacing and honestly such a great actor. Other than that, the two bodyguards suddenly dying at the end was just strange - I get a story needs some impactful characters to die but that one made 0 sense lol. Revenge was alright some say satisfying but to me, most of them were let off too easily, even jiang family revenge was just not it... "mentally deranged" no she deserved death.
