I am at Episode 24 now. Ask me how I reached this far? I multitasked - split screen at its finest. Now that I…
Most persons definitely don’t have the same standard when watching dramas. I don’t mind watching “idol” dramas that focus on the popularity and beauty of the actors but the drama needs to have a good plot and good actors. I’m not gonna spend hours or days watching a drama just because I like the Ml and FL. I liked Neo Hou in BFTB and the others from MJTY so I decided to give FOF a chance. At the beginning, this drama was a 8.5 but it the drama started fading into the background. I finished it because I needed to see if the drama would somehow improve. (It didn’t)
I had that same thought with Li Lun. All his actions were repetitive and all I wanted to know was what exactly happened between him and ZYZ. I get that because ZYZ choose to save both humans and demons, it was a betrayal to LL but what else was ZYZ to do? Sit back and watch him kill all those people?? Then he decided that he’s going to kill everyone that ZYZ cares about?? In the end he sort of redeemed himself by actually saving ZYZ and ZYC but it didn’t really have an emotional impact per say.
I agree with what you said about the plot. The premise made it seem like a really great drama. ZYZ is supposed to be the leader of all demons but I really didn’t get that from him. He faded into being and providing comedic relief.
I would say to multitask if you really want to finish the drama. It’s not the type of drama that has whiny characters that tend to do stupid things over and over (unless you count Bai Jiu and Li Lin 😂).It’s more of the plot that’s repetitive . And since you might already know the ending, then you don’t have to continue if you are no longer interested. It’s just pure aesthetics so you’re not really missing out.
But you might want to finish it for the sake of finishing it. That was me around ep 26.

Review Fangs of Fortune Spoiler
You perfectly put into words what I felt watching this drama (and especially the very last episodes).FoF lacked…
You are absolutely correct. I watched My Journey to You and I absolutely loved it. That’s why I watched FOF because both dramas have the same director and appeal. Despite the fact that MJTO had an open ending, as well as it had most of the issues FOF had such as the pacing and the flow being all over the place, it was still better than FOF in my opinion. The director choose to focus more on aesthetics rather than essence which is his choice but he could have at least made things more believable. Yes the actors and actresses are beautiful but was that what the drama was supposed to be about? But maybe that’s what sells in this industry; the prettier the characters are, the more popular the drama will be.
I read your review and I agree with all of your points. Especially where Bai Jiu kept screaming. It got so repetitive that I had to fast forward most of his scenes. Because he’s either holding on to ZYC’s hair, screaming, or having a fit with Ying Lei. The director even wanted things to be mysterious but that didn’t work well. I knew that the person who kidnapped Wen Xiao’s father was the doctor because for the villain, he died too quickly. And how did he even manage to kidnap her adoptive father? And how did he manage to make someone who looked like Fei (who clearly had destroyed his demon core and died)? I know the answer might be that he kidnapped demons and experimented on them but did he like take their demon cores to put it in humans? And his whole charade was that he wanted to destroy all demons, but aren’t the humans that he demonized also demons in the end?
And I agree 100% with the lack of urgency in the end…. It’s like we have humans becoming demons yet still all the demon bureau is doing is remembering those who died…. Like one mention of the person and a whole slideshow of them gets shown. It was indeed just an excuse for ZYZ to die. His sacrifice should have been more meaningful but as you stated, the director just wanted certain characters to die and it didn’t matter how they died.
How long did ZYC spent searching for ZYZ’s remaining soul? I remembered that ZYZ had said the longer a demons white hair is shows how powerful they are and how long they have lived. ZYC’s hair couldn’t have turned white/grey in such a small amount of time. Plus with the times he probably had met up with Wen Xiao, his sword should have been able to sense ZYZ’s soul because I’m pretty sure WX would have kept that piece of contract with her.
But then again, the director wasn’t going for logic but rather beauty and aesthetics.
