I loved episode 4 even more. This drama is improving each episode in my opinion! It may sound strange but I actually…
I think it was really good they made the girlfriend more sympathetic. She is building courage and time to make sure she really loves the male lead before introducing him because of the backlash she's going to get from her family. I wonder if the show will throw us for a loop and her mom won't really be against it.
Also a side-note: I don't know how it is in Korea but if you're a store manager (the #1 person of the store) - you generally make a pretty good living in North America. I work in finance and the top person in every store is usually handpicked by the HQ of the retailer and top performers can make rather large salaries (in many cases 6 figures).
I mean look at Walmart. They claim on average a store manager takes home roughly $175,000. I can definitely believe that.
Obviously this is a much smaller corner store but it's not a bad start to a career in North America (not sure about Korea).
Kind of felt like not much happened. The relationship between the male lead and his current girlfriend was chipped away at by a series of decisions she makes.
The big reveal at the end of the episode was the girlfriend finally meeting and learning about who the part-timer is (female lead).
I saw the small poster on the front page here and they looked like children so I ignored it until I saw a second poster - same one just larger - and realized they were young adults. I guess I'll give it a shot. Period/Fantasy stuff appeals to me.
I'm not really feeling it. She comes across as a psycho and narcissist. I just don't know how you "fix" that so she can have a meaningful relationship especially when the show looks like it's trying to deal with mental health issues in a realistic way.
I mean I like the actress and everything but she feels a little too out there for me to believe that once we're at the end her character's change has been genuine and real.
I'm just looking at your watch list and the hypocrisy is astonishing. Also - kind of weird you have this perverted…
If you are going to take a moral position be consistent. The two of you are inconsistent. "Rules for thee but not for me" describes the two of you.
Nothing is being undermined here. If you want to see others suffer because they don't take the same view as you, there is something wrong with you.
The silence from you and others has been deafening up until this point. Now you're here, you're loud, you're complaining and pretending you're educated on complex topics. To someone passing by (like me)... I would think "oh they're self-interested pearl clutching hypocrites, there was almost never a problem the hundreds of other times it happened but now suddenly there is a problem?".
There are definitely some people living in a bubble. There are definitely people who need to have an education take place. I'll leave it up to you to give it a second look and maybe you'll have a realization.
Rewatching this drama during quarantine... The first episode was legendary (if you know you know). This was the…
It's definitely a little bit more mature than your average KDrama which is why I liked it. The one night stand has become a bit of a trope and one of the only ways Korean dramas seem to address sex and that's unfortunate but I liked them, they were a cute couple.
The running Cinderella's bra pad joke was great, I loved it. I think 14 episodes was the right amount of time. I didn't struggle to get through the show or an episode.
The problem is as soon as she leaves her village it just runs in circles over and over. He pushes her away, she tries to get back with him, he accepts it temporarily, he pushes her away again. It's just the same stupid circle over and over again until the last few episodes where finally she catches on and finally side characters take actual real action with lasting consequences.
And then when the side characters start making decisive choices and actions... it feels late, forced and inauthentic. The story was not developed well at all. The ending kind of sucked in my opinion.
Sure the couple has fun interactions especially in those first few episodes but that's about it.
Let me make one thing clear: If you have to imagine and use your imagination to explain dozens and dozens of plotholes... you haven't found an answer or a solution. You're making something up that could easily be wrong.
And using your imagination constantly begs the question - why even watch the show when you can look at pictures of the cast and make up an entirely different story in your head?
Kim Eun-sook is a screen writer. We aren't screenwriters. If we were then what Kim Eun-sook gave us would make sense. We need to take her silly half-baked ideas and come up with something coherent and compelling to put on screen that audiences would enjoy. But we are not. We are the audience. Kim Eun-sook is the screenwriter.
The job of a screenwriter is to tell a coherent story. Kim Eun-sook failed to do that. She needs this criticism. She needs to understand she failed and why she failed. This show was a failure. Is this negative? Sure. That doesn't invalidate reality or people's opinions on this show.
So yes, watch this show if you can explain away dozens of plotholes with your own imagination but stuff like "oh I found the answer and you didn't" is simply not true.
Figuring out 'answers' to plotholes is your imagination. You have no way of knowing if they are correct or intended. So if I have to imagine 99% of the show... why even bother watching it? I'll make up my own King Eternal in my head that's way better than the garbage given to us on screen.
The math analogy is silly. First of all a teacher will walk you through problems start to finish before handing you something to solve on your own. It's not spoon feeding to teach someone how to do something.
How about the old proverb - give a man a fish, teach a man to fish.
Second thing - we're not training to be awful script writers here with Kim Eun-sook. We shouldn't have to solve anything. It's one thing to keep the audience guessing before a reveal. It's another to have the audience confused, disinterested with a story that makes no sense and was "solved" 30 minutes into the last episode with 'and flute yo-yo god decided it be so!'. I'm fine with religions, I'm fine with all of that. But if 'god did it' is the direction you're going to go... tell a compelling story in the previous 15 episodes so that 'god did it' doesn't seem more like 'I have no idea what I'm doing or how to end this so LOOK YO-YO".
But even if we ignore those two glaring weaknesses... a math analogy for this show is more like an exam question asking that you solve for a system of nonlinear equations and the professor has scratched out one of the equations. There would be no expectation for students to solve it. The professor is making it impossible to answer the question correctly by hiding one of the equations. You need one to work at the other and come up with the correct solution otherwise you can write whatever garbage you want.
normally, i would be crazy excited for this drama because from what i've seen, it looks so fun, the problem for…
The description definitely seems a bit weird - the whole "imprint" thing always weirds me out. I remember seeing it in a Thai drama and thankfully it was the side couple but it was handled in a very weird way because the girl was so innocent and naive I never came around. If there's a massive age gap I feel like the younger person has to show they're mature, outgoing and be the one pushing for it and the older person has to be reluctant and come across as almost innocent.
We'll see. I'm still going to give it a chance because the leads are both really expressive actors and I like that. The posters and photos also seem to show he has a weird expression while she's intense with a smile or looking at him. So maybe he'll be a bit of a loser and she'll be outgoing.
I absolutely deplore the finale episode! Gosh I feel like I wasted my time and energy. My imagination was severely…
I guess we just need to get the god of time and balance to really really like us and then he'll let us get our 16 hours back. It's just too bad Lee Rim didn't see the big picture and it was all about some dude with a yo-yo liking him enough to let him do whatever he wanted.
