How heavy and sappy do people think the romance will be? I'm more interested in her story and the war/politics of it all and her rise to the top so on the fence about starting it.
I think this is a really good start to the show. Probably my favorite Chinese costume drama in the last few years so far. They've done a good job giving the male lead and female lead "wins" so it's not one swooping in to help the other all the time (usually the male lead swooping in).
Wei State having its patriarch killed, his son killed and just the grandson male lead left looking for revenge. He's right to feel that way. The Qiao family of Yanzhou helped get members of his family killed.
On the other hand the female lead while she might agree when presented evidence her family is guilty... she doesn't want them to be killed, she doesn't want Yanzhou to be occupied by Wei.
The motivations are clear, the actions are clear. They get taken by surprise and aren't invincible geniuses. I hope they keep it up and build an overarching story for the future. And hopefully the world is a bit more complex than Wei vs Yanzhou.
Not bad, wish we'd see a bit more of the youngest two. And the mullet is gone from the annoying couple but it's still frustrating how much screen time that couple is still getting.
I have joined you and I filled out an actor page for her and assuming it is up for approval. Hopefully I'm not stepping on anyone's toes or duplicating a request.
A lot of talented new actors and actresses these days even if the shows they're supporting cast for aren't masterpieces. She deserves a page on here and I hope she has success in the future.
That was a funny ending. I wonder what Chun Su's soon to be ex-wife told him and hid from him for 3 years. An affair? His kid dropped out or was kicked out of the school the two of them were there for?
They keep going for misunderstandings between the leads but at least they get resolved quick enough and the chairman doesn't dislike her or anything. His perception of her offends him and he gets more interested to learn more "could there be someone like this?" and the misunderstanding gets resolved and he gets pulled in deeper and deeper. And of course she's there to witness his embarrassing moments as he tries to maintain this image he's crafted of how he's the perfect man, chairman, husband and widow.
I think the younger members of the cast - Se Ri, Han Bom and Gyeol are pretty talented and good with facial expressions so I wish them continued success and I hope they get cast for more shows.
103 episodes for the female lead to have a monologue about how she needs to "find herself". And of course the preview for 104 has Dan Soo swooping in for yet another episode of being a lovesick puppy.
It's hard to say there is a story or a plot happening in this show. It feels more like a collection of scenes and decisions.
Oh crap. This week Beom Su's ex-wife is back, next week looks like Chun Su's (soon to be ex) wife is back.
The preview also highlights again why Gwang Suk's mom is disliked. It's one foot in, one foot out. She'll play both sides of a situation and then pretend she was on your side. She'll play both sides to gain advantages for herself alone and the preview suggests she'll jeopardize the business relationship the two leads have right now.
She's living for free at the home of her dead son-in-law where she doesn't want her daughter living. As the brothers were grieving she badgered them into trying to force Gwang Suk out of that home. She doesn't want her daughter and Gang Su living in the same home.
I understood her in the first few episodes because she wanted her daughter to make a clean break since the marriage was so short. But at this point she's just a whiner and a complainer adding to her daughter's grief.
The unsuccessful creative who mooches off their family? Yeah. I guess by the end of the show his lame aerobics or dancing class will be a massive success or something. The writer probably was Heung Su for most of their life. Creative but financially dependent on family. Eventually can make a living out of it.
What are people's thoughts so far?
At least some of the cast seems to have acting chops and they're giving it 110% to try to sell this steaming pile of....
I'm here though in a kind of laugh at it way. "Oh, hi Mark!". It's legitimately that bad.
The actress playing the female lead is talented.
Probably my favorite Chinese costume drama in the last few years because it has managed the balance well so far.

Really good start to the show.
Not saying this is a masterpiece by any means but I'd rate it higher than Merry Marriage.

Actual show 1/10
