Yeah... I gave it to Episode 15 but I'm out. This is a dropped show for me.

The Li family and sisters earned their rumored reputation despite them claiming in the first few episodes they were being unfairly targeted with the rumor. Shameless, self-centered, petty hypocrites.

And outside of listening to the sisters talk each other into knots with their own hypocrisy about how they are right and everyone else in the world is wrong... nothing much has happened in this show.

Maybe I'll read reviews after it's over and if there was any other plot beyond the men throwing away all self-respect to be doormats for their wives... I'll finish it.

So far the first 5-6 episodes were fine. The last 4-5 were a bit confusing and frustrating but I'm hoping with the ending to episode 10 it will start to settle into a rhythm. Feels like they haven't explored 4th sister's motivations and life at all so I'm curious what will happen with her.

Unlikeable characters who do not make good decisions and are too reactive, too prone to self-pity... and the show has no engaging story to distract from the unlikeable characters. I understand that Gong Hui and Dan Su aren't bad people but I don't feel sorry for either one at this point. At a certain point you have to be willing to help yourself and overcome a rejection or some family pressure. And neither one seems capable of that.

Title Desperate Mrs. Seonju Spoiler
They are stretching believability. So Sang Ah's dad has told no one that she has been suspended and she keeps showing up at work? And now she locked an employee in a dangerously humid room for hours and hours and the first call isn't to police to arrest Sang Ah when multiple witnesses can provide statements Sang Ah lead Seon Ju to that room?

Oh well. It is a family drama. At least now Seon Ju is going to compete with her work instead of being a punching bag. She'll start throwing punches back.

Sang Ah's birth secret looks like it could be over or maybe the writer/director are trying to deliberately mislead. Maybe it is as simple as her biological mom died and her step-mom stepped up. But then again what was with the weird almost-kidnapping like scene a few episodes ago with the baby? And why does the mom not want the dad to meet Seon Ju? Maybe he had an extramarital affair at the time? Or maybe there was some funny business at that hospital?

So what’s the story with the dad .... the daughter is his with the woman who died in the car accident and I’m…
From the mom's perspective - the woman was pregnant, Sang Ah's dad was in love with that woman. She wanted to use Sang Ah as a baby to get closer to him.

Maybe some context is missing in the translation but it's possible Sang Ah's dad loved the woman and wanted to protect her child even if it was not his child.

Title Desperate Mrs. Seonju Spoiler
They emphasized Soo Woo is an orphan this episode through his former mother-in-law. I wonder who he's a "lost son" for...

My gut still says Seon Ju is the daughter of Jung Bae and the ending will be Soo Woo running the company with Seon Ju as his wife and Jung Bae being a happy grandfather to the new couple and their kids.

I'm surprised at the rapid pace of the show. Sang Ah bullied Seon Ju for a little over half an episode and by the end of episode 40 it looks like she'll be working as an assistant designer for Soo Woo?

We're 1/3 of the way in at this point and we've made progress on the cheating and it is essentially resolved. The two leads are determined to march forward into their (separate for now) futures. But what can they tell for the story in the middle third and ending third?

Sang Ah's biological family (or at least mother)
Soo Woo being an orphan, will his biological family get brought up?
Seon Ju is she Jung Bae's daughter? Why doesn't Jung Bae's wife want him to meet Seon Ju?
The little sisters and their car spat
The little sisters and their romance with the soap opera actor
The romance between the leads
The major company project
Sang Ah and Jeon Nam Jin trying to restore their careers

While this seems like a lot I'm not seeing 80 episodes. Let me know if I'm missing anything.

Not a major criticism here. I think overall for a daily soap opera they've gone at a solid pace, they've resolved certain secrets and stories. I am wondering where they go from here.

All the characters are interested in protecting each other. But who is looking out for us, the audience? Nobody. Shameful.

Sang Ah's little sister likes to stir the pot with everyone including her own family, lol.

You can't tell her anything, she always spills the beans.

Title Desperate Mrs. Seonju Spoiler
It looks like Seon Ju is going to take crap for a while but she's got a job and will start building up her confidence and backbone.

I wonder what the birth secret is going to be. I think it's pretty clear Sang Ah is not related to her father biologically. But is Seon Ju related to Jung Bae (Sang Ah's father)? And how would Sang Ah's mother know? Does that mean Seon Ju was adopted? Or that her mom gave up on Jung Bae and never told him? So weird. I wonder where they go with that.

I also wonder what the male lead meant when he asked about the art entrance exam in the preview for next episode.

The preview for next episode is he going to agree to come back to the company with Seon Ju as his assistant designer?

Haha. But I hope he warns her and lets her decide instead of blindsiding her.

Can someone tell me what the wet dream is that those Korean writers have of always making the protagonist a stepfather?
TV writers in Korea and China seem to want male leads who love the female lead unconditionally and through any situation. She bullies him as a child? He develops a crush. She rejects his advances? He remains devoted. She dates someone else? He remains devoted. She gets pregnant and has a baby with another man? He wants to step up and marry her.

TV is a fantasy I guess and given the ratings keep going up and up it's at least interesting to the Korean housewives watching it.

Overall I think it's not great for TV. You can basically see the romance in every single show these days before it even happens. The male lead will always have one option - the female lead. The female lead typically weighs her options before deciding on the male lead. It's so predictable.

duration of ep 33 =35 min .... real important stuff = 5 min ..........
You're not kidding about episode 33 being almost entirely filler lol. I think half the episode had gone by before they got back to the start of the ending scene of episode 32.

One day we will talk about the unnecessary vitriol female leads get from fans in male centric dramas. This drama…
My Heroic Husband, Joy of Life and Snow Sword Stride all have similar elements to this show. All have aired within the last 5-6 years. The female leads and other romantic interests did not receive much criticism, the shows were focused on the male lead and the events in the world. I enjoyed all 3 of these shows and I thought the female leads added to each of them.

I'm enjoying the show. I don't like how the female lead is written and directed. That's all. I'm not sure why some of you are so invested in convincing everyone this is a well written character and that anyone critical doesn't want the male lead to have a romance.

Is this drama worth watching?
I think it's pretty good yeah. The show is focused on the male lead and you could almost list him as the main character all on his own.

He journeys through the world stumbling across the different power-factions. He solves cases, tries to help people and sometimes does it with humor. Quick witted. He's not above embarrassing himself, the show doesn't mind having a laugh at his expense.

Most of the supporting cast is strong, well thought out and written with a couple exceptions.

I'd say it's worth watching if that interests you.

Can you point to a single moment that Lin An has seen the bigger picture and been selfless in service of others…
Ah yes the complete 180 in the personality of a character in the second half of the show so that she can be worthy of the male lead's romance.

And people wonder why Lin An isn't liked as a character, LOL.

This is my last comment regarding the "hate" Lin An is recieving in here. I just can't stand double standards…
Can you point to a single moment that Lin An has seen the bigger picture and been selfless in service of others in the first half of this show?

Qi An is childish and mischievous. But when things get serious he doesn't pretend to faint. He does the selfless thing. He does the right thing. He puts other people first even if it means putting himself in danger. That's why his character works.

You see the same thing when the stakes are smaller with his aunt and uncle. They crack jokes and sometimes they're a bit selfish and childish but they do try to help Qi An and others whenever they can.

Genuine question : why are people finding Lin An as an annoying? Honestly, I didn’t, and I think her actions…
Suitable does not mean she is not annoying. She's a selfish, spoiled princess who hasn't grown up.

And the show isn't about her. If this was a show about a selfish spoiled girl turning into a magnanimous woman and future queen that would be one thing.

But the show is about the male lead's journey to 'save the world' with help from various friends and with some comedic relief mixed in.

Where does she fit in? Is she comic relief? Not really. Is she someone useful to the male lead in saving the world? Not really. She's been about as useful as the head of the astronomy department or the poet-scholars. Notice how none of those 3 characters are leads or significant characters appearing every episode. They're supporting cast.

So that's why people have a problem with her. The show isn't about her personal growth. She's a side character that the writers and directors are shoe-horning into the show as a lead and you can tell. And it's annoying.
