Actually female lead is more like a support role here. This is mainly about power struggle between ML and his father figures.

I can't care less for zhang haowei but I like his crown prince. It would be great if this character doesn't get replaced by an unfamiliar actor.

Just try watching it first if you've been waiting for years. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. I personally like it so much. After season 1, I used to think this is one of the best dramas in recent years after Nirvana in fire but now I'm starting to think it's on its way to being one of the best of all times cos it's so unique. It's a genre of it's own.

It's actually quite good. I dropped the series a few times in the first episodes of season 1 but season 2 is enjoyable from the start. I watched only this drama for a couple of days, and today I watched yangmi's fox spirit matchmaker. The gap between the two drama is so.... Even got a bit angry watching it lol

Maybe his acting just isn't your taste. Lots of people would disagree with you but we all have our own preferences I guess.

Personally I feel like he adds a certain charisma to his characters which is really charming and unique to him. Maybe that's why many people love his acting.

I love seven tan but I swear she acts the same in every drama. I also feel like she's a bit too bright?? for this character? Anw Im having a hard time convincing myself this is a lady from ancient China. It's such a bummer because I really like the plot and the aesthetic of this drama. It could've been one of my favorite dramas otherwise.
