Main characters get light blue, side characters and extras get dark blue. That’s all there is to it, nothing to do with upper and lowerclassmen. It’s just something they did in the first movie to save money or something and it became tradition. Original artwork ranges between the two colors depending on the picture, so both are ‘accurate’ to the novels/manga, but everyone has the same uniform in the novels. Lol.

Oh, also, the livejournal that comes up when you search for the novel translation is also mine! That’s where I was posting it back before they rarranged the stories in the new ‘perfect edition’. The Facebook page is where I post when new chapters are out and add things like the illustrations that go with each story. It’s all me!

Gii is not nearly as confident as he seems. He *thinks* Takumi likes him back, but is very much not confident in it. That’s why the back hug is such a moment for him.
The new drama got me off my butt and back to work on translating the novels. I finished volume one a few years ago, but got stuck on the first story in volume two (though I have finished most of the other stories in volume two, I’m posting them in order, so they were held back as well). Well, that story is about Akaike Shouzou and Shibata Shun, and bits of it are in the new drama, so I got inspired again.
Anyway, if you want to understand why Shibata is staring at Akaike’s mole, and what that magazine at the end of episode three is about, give Second Position a read! The whole first book is there as well, and I’ll be posting more stories soon. Next one is only 5 pages long, but it’s the relevant Shingyouji/Misu story, so I hope to have it done soon.

Kesshin (literally just the phone call Gii and Takumi had) Wakaki Gii-kun he no nayami (the running bet from episode three) Mangetsu (the Shingyoji falling for Misu story) -coming soon June Pride (the Takumi tells Gii about his trauma bit) - coming soon
Bits of other stories, like Te no Hira no Yuki (Yoshizawa/Takabayashi) and Second Position are also there, but not the whole plots, so I think that’s why they don’t list them as being included.

This version lof events is closer to the way it happened in the novel, so I guess they were going for book accuracy to appease original fans of the books. Having read, and translated, the book, I did enjoy seeing things exactly ’right’ on the screen. I can acknowledge that it’s not a super compelling story in of itself, though. I enjoyed it for nostalgia’s sake. I was at the movie premiere event, actually. I am looking forward to the new drama that’s going to cover the rest of what was in the original first movie, but wasn’t in this one.
